Navajo Nation suggests Code Talkers in honor of the men who helped in WWII. There were also code talkers in WWI. I saw that, please please please, anything but that name. it's awful. I just hope they don't use any kind of "race praise" as an excuse, like Red Tails, which is not a bad name, but when it's in honor of a black regiment in WW2, it's about race again. Let's do a name that has absolutely nothing to do with race. Warriors or Wolves or Generals would be great. If I'm not mistaken though, and someone correct me, didnt' Donald Trump own a team called the Generals in the WFL or USFL? Yeah I agree that Washington or DC Code Talkers kinda doesn't ring. I'm usually against team names that require two words. But I alsp don't think Code Talkers or even Red Tails would be first considered based on race.

Are 95 year old Black WW 2 veterans really upset about that?

The Chief and Saints next (the latter due to a religious affiliation), and then PETA will surely take care that animals will no longer be abused as namesakes...we have to go the full nine yards. Do you really think they will stop with the Redskins?! Eagles Seahawkes Dolphins Lions Bears etc.pp. Hm...what about Greenbay...too many white fans?! They will find way to ban "Greenbay" if they want. Could be that "green" stands for the "evil" of capitalism that victimized tens of thousands.
The President had warned us that these activist won't stop. The name change is not even about the name, it is about tearing apart of the American culture and history. It is a cultural revolution that can turn even more bloody than what we already have these few weeks if we are too complacent with these bullying. This is the most pathetic post I've read in a long time. A racist slang term being removed as a team nickname constitutes the "tearing apart of American culture and history" in your eyes. Wow.

It's hard for some to let go of our history.

It is not much about the history, but where the culture is going.

It will still use burgundy and gold, and the logo on the helmet will be replaced by the player's number in gold.
That I always liked. Only good thing about Alabama. Penn State did it long ago

You have to settle on a name. Have it registered. Settle on a logo, a wordmark etc. Make up merchandise, official documents, letterheads, etc. It probably couldn't get done by opening day

I'm sure they have a back log of years of ideas, and if they were motivated to get it done, they could have. It would be difficult, but not impossible. They had to settle on this terrible decision and register this logo and name and everything. I'm surprised they didn't just keep Redskins then, and keep making merchandise for another year so people would snap it up as a collector's item knowing that it would be discontinued; with the promise that they'd change it next year. Although, I guess now Redskins gear, and 'Washington Football Team' gear will both be collectors' items, I guess.

Nobody can be offended by that, right?" It'll make great fodder for those who, for the life of them, couldn't understand what was wrong with the previous name.

Predictably, Snyder ignored my write-in suggestion of Landover Lollipops.

So do fans cheer "Go, football team!"?
No, so they will chant Redskins. If they'd chosen a real name they'd be split.
