"Which methods of limb regeneration seem most promising?"
None...if limbs are ever to 'regenerate' it'll look just like how a fetus' limbs develop. And it'll take just as long if not longer. The limb will grow from a fetal nub to a fully functional limb in maybe 4 years and then another 10 to grow to adult size. The problem will be the many ways such long growth periods could 'go wrong' when the rest of the body isn't growing simultaneously.

I think there's a far greater chance that artificial limbs with built in computers and bionic movement will become so sophisticated that 'actual' flesh and blood limbs won't be very appealing at all.

We could probably do it at one time before at one stage of evolution it got "switched off". Just need to find out how to switch it back on again.
