Charles Bedaux was a French-American millionaire who earned his wealth from devising the Bedaux System, a means of improving industrial efficiency. He liked to party, hunt, and mingle with socialites or political figures like the Duke of Windsor. Or Nazis. . That's a story unto itself. But in 1934 he launched a hundred person expedition across the Canadian wilderness to test Citroen half-tracks and garner some publicity from documenting the adventure. The operation included cowboys, surveyors, a director and cinematographer Floyd Crosby (later worked on High Noon) his wife, even his mistress who was an Italian countess! Apparently there was a documentary made in 1995 detailing the unusual expedition.

Now this has to be made into a movie. Yeah, I feel like this guy is what Belloq from Indiana Jones would be doing if he didn’t look inside the Ark.
