Toaster, you are such a zealot on this issue that you can't look at it rationally.
The SCIENTIFIC evidence is that there may be short term protection from the corona virus with nicotine. That's all I'm saying here. Quitting smoking now may put more people at risk. The quitters in the OP are foolish. If they didn't quit 6 months ago there is sure as hell no good reason to quit in the middle of this pandemic.
You see the world in terms of black and white. Shades of religious faith against the SCIENTIFIC evidence here, or what?
Toasty, the earth is not flat. I think foolish is the wrong term and insulting people is not the way to get the message across. It’s still early days on the benefits of nicotine and (as far as I can see) there haven’t been any explanation of how nicotine helps prevent getting Covid-19. If it’s just nicotine in the body then use patches. If the nicotine has to be directly applied to the lungs then use a less harmful method such as vaping. If there’s more chance of dying from lung cancer than there is of dying from Covid-19 then quit. Interesting how gamey is projecting his own irrational and bizarre attitude, yet I am the irrational one....

Uh, I didn't insult Toasty. What, by pointing out his pseudo-religious zealotry? I suppose you think the atheists on the Religion board here are insulting religious posters when they post SCIENTIFIC evidence and they are told that faith is all one needs?
No, Stammaman, if you're smoking now and have no symptoms of lung cancer, there is a far greater chance you'll get the corona virus in the next 6 months than die of lung cancer.

You keep insulting the anti-smoking majority by comparing them to an anti-scientific religious cult and you (mildly) insult people who have just given up smoking by calling them foolish. If it was proven that smoking saves lives and they are cutting short their own by jumping on to the religious cult bandwagon then, yes, they are foolish. But at the moment it’s like calling people fools because they step on cracks in the pavement/sidewalk.

Most people believe "live and let live" and they don't worry that a waft of second-hand smoke from a burning plant leaf will kill them.
Second, since when is disagreeing with people an insult? Sorry, anyone is a fool if they quit smoking now and increase their risk of getting the corona virus. This stuff is not rocket science.
Sheesh. This is like trying to explain reality to Muslim fundamentalists. <<< [atheist eyes]

Just like nobody's going to change your mind. And trying to do so, over and over again, borders on presumptuous and rude. You know your point of view is not the only valid one. You really have no right to mock and ridicule another person's faith. And why do you care so much? Just do what works for you, light up and have a smile.

Sheesh. This is like trying to explain reality to Muslim fundamentalists. <<< [atheist eyes] No, disagreeing with someone is (obviously) not insulting the person. But calling them "idiots" and "fools" IS insulting them and this is what you just did. Your motives are questionable because, as Stammerhead said, you are not going to bring anybody to your point of view if you call them an idiot outright. You are going to antagonize the person right away. Proceeding with insults and all your absolutes makes YOU look rather foolish as you keep trying to be different and play the lone wolf.

Where is all this religious zeal that Toasted Cheese is supposedly throwing around? I read his posts. Nowhere did he say anything about God or the bible or sinning or anything remotely close to it. What made you decide that he did? He doesn't even care if people want to smoke. You're into some heavy duty projection and it's coming across as a bit odd.

Its dumb that there are people quitting smoking?
Are you just... stupid?
Oy vey. It's dumb they're quitting now if nicotine kills the corona virus. I would wait and see what more researchers learn why smokers are not getting this virus as much as nonsmokers before I quit. Wait... your posit is that A) nicotine kills coronavirus? And B) because of that people should continue smoking?
Do you just make shit up and then believe it?

I posted the French study which shows 35% of French are smokers, but only 5% of French corona virus patients are smokers. A similar Chinese study had similar results. It's quite likely nicotine kills the corona virus on impact. Sorry, this is not the time to quit. Now stick a lit cigar up your ass and STFU.

Pandemic or not. Probably more so since its CLEAR that healthier lungs will fight off Coronavius better than not healthy ones.
B) Those studies only state percentages. They make no conclusions about health one way or the other. So you're drawing your own conclusions without knowing what the fuck you're talking about, with your vast medical experience...
C) I'll STFU after your obviously DUMB ass does.

Stop behaving like a programmed automaton and adapt to survive. 35% to 5% are compelling numbers. If you're healthy now your risk of dying of lung cancer in the next 6 months is nil. But your risk of catching corona virus is probably better than 50%.

Sure, two studies are not conclusive. However, it would be great irony if the sheep in the OP quit smoking to avoid COVID and then got COVID because they stopped smoking.
I know Toasted Cheese is too self-righteous to get it. But the irony would be hilarious.

If they all started smoking again would they still be sheep? Uh no, because there's no massive propaganda campaign which has been going on for decades to tell them to smoke. Smokers these days are the true mavericks. Anti-smokers are paranoid and irrational. This thread shows that.
