Hard to believe it's already been 10 years since "Inception" has come out. How has it held up for you? At least for me, it's still an enjoyable headtrip of a movie. It may not be for everyone, but I think it's still pretty good. It would probably be in my Top 3 Chris Nolan films. Maltin Movie Guide Review: Inception (2010) - 2.5 out of 4 stars"DiCaprio and his team are masters of a form of corporate spying; entering a selected target's dream state and extracting information, for which competitors pay huge sums. Underestimating the complexities of the tool, DiCaprio mishandled it to the point of severely rupturing his personal life, forcing him to flee the U.S. Now, at a psychological impasse, he's offered a challenging job he can't refuse by corporate giant Watanabe. But this means facing his demons by virtually retracing the same nightmarish territory that nearly destroyed him. Ambitious, exceedingly well-crafted film, written by Nolan, works too hard to show off its cleverness and intricacy and even betrays its own ground rules when it suits the filmmaker. Oscar Winner for Cinematography (Wally Pfister), Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects."

While tremendously technically executed, repeat viewings are marred for me by its expositional hand holding nearly the entire run time. Every idea, choice, pov, feels constantly explained by Leo & co... that aspect makes it less re-watchable for me.

I think praise should be given to editor Lee Smith for being able to successfully cut back and forth between the various dream levels in the later part of the movie. Not easy to do that and successfully get your audience to follow along.

Boring. I was amazed how little action it had for a movie that supposedly was about action. Michael Caine has a funny scene where he tells DiCaprio why he came to see him. "You are here to ask for one of my students.." In old movies the characters would just talk and you would find out what they want through normal dialogue "Hey Mike, how've you been?"
"Can't complain--how about yourself?"
"Good good. So, any students around here as clever as I was?"
But in Nolan movies--characters tell each other what they should be thinking or why they are doing things.

I’ve seen this a bunch of times.
It holds up for me.
I liked Tom Hardy a lot in this.
I think it was the first time I’d ever seen him.

While it works for the film itself and it's actually a part of the soundtrack, it did lead to that trend where it seemed every trailer had brass horns for the music.

Rewatching it right now. Kind of weird seeing DiCaprio in an “action” role. Don't think he has another besides maybe The Revenant and The Departed.

Too bad South Park stole this scene from College Humor, which did this far better.

I remember when it came out, it was being heralded as a baton relay of sorts from The Matrix. I think The Matrix holds up stronger over time, sans sequels.
There was a box office thread where I couldn't believe how many franchises & sequels were in the worldwide top 100. Legit shoutout Inception for delivering such an original premise so finely tuned & executed, even if subsequent viewings aren't as grand.

When I first watched it, I loved the mind-bending aspects and the action was pretty decent. In later viewings, it kind of didn't hold up as well, but I still liked it. I just might re-watch it again over the weekend.
