I agree. Especially since he won a Golden Globe two years in a row.

I actually thought he won for comedy/musical for it, but him winning for drama does make it even more strange that he didn't get the Oscar nomination.

I find it weird hes never been nominated at all. But what movies do you think he deserved a nomination for? And who shouldn't have been nominated instead?

The Truman Show (he is better than the actual winner and Tom Hanks imo) Man on the Moon (maybe the best performance of the year) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (he is significantly better than Johnny Depp imo) I Love You Phillip Morris (this was never going to be nominated for anything, but he is better than most of the nominees that year imo)

Of course they did, but it is and was considered a much worse movie. It was still Jeff Bridges and a Coen Brothers movie and fresh off of Fargo. There is no excuse.

Truman
The Majestic
Eternal Sunshine
Comedies are great too. Fearless actor.
Edit: Forgot about 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events', He could have taken supporting for that film, I would not have been upset. Great Actor.

I'm guessing it's a mix of him not being taken seriously enough coupled with his comments about the awards bodies which were sort of malicious.

I mean how they'll ignore performances in movies that they don't like. Just because a movie isn't that great doesn't mean the performances aren't really good.

Eh, if you look through the Oscars you will notice enough performances that are nominated for movies that didn't get a great reception. Though when it does happen, it is usually for very Oscar bait type performances like Sean Penn in I Am Sam and Will Smith for Ali. You are right though, that they tend to nominate from the obvious pool.
