Wasn’t Zach Braff supposed to play Fletch at one point?

Wasn’t Zach Braff supposed to play Fletch at one point? Don't recall. I heard Reynolds though maybe I'm confusing this with the proposed Clue remake. I think they wanted him for that other project.

Not that Fletch is an exceptional movie (though I do find it funny), but the only sensible reason I can think of for remaking it is to be more faithful to the original, more dryly-humorous book.

As for Clue, on the other hand, I can absolutely see remaking that. I really like the premise and the cast and find some scenes pretty funny, but on the whole I just don’t think the script’s that well-written, jokes included.

I did like Fletch a bit more, but I did like Clue. It’s better than it has any reason to be.

Jason Lee Zach Braff Ryan Reynolds
were all up for the role of Fletcher. Jason Lee is probably the only one I could stomach.

John Hamm would have to do a lot to make himself seem likable and personality filled, I doubt he wouldn't just come across as a smug asshole. You could say the same about Chevy I guess but I still like him and he already charmed as Clark Griswald.

”Confess, Fletch“ from director Greg Mottola will get a limited theatrical run and PVOD release on Sept. 16 followed by a premiere on Showtime.
