Imma keep this brief cos I don't wanna spoil anything... I was really excited for this film, simply due to how much I adored the first one and cos the trailers looked rather impressive. Walked out of it very let down unfortunately- it's not a particularly awful film but it's not particularly a good one either, it has it's moments but overall I feel it falls flat. For the most part, the performances were very good (well except for whatever Karen Gillan and Elizabeth Debicki were attempting), the soundtrack is nice but not as catchy as the first, there's some excellent set pieces and some effective emotional moments. Other than that, I wholeheartedly felt that it was a loosely plotted quipping fest, packed with very little purpose and was ultimately pretty forgettable. Maybe it was just me, but I also found the film somewhat boring and unengaging- which is usually the opposite of what I feel with MCU flicks. It's quite unfortunate really, was expecting this one to be one of the best of the year. At least Homecoming and Ragnarok look promising.

So basically you're saying you're done with the MCU forever and now pledge your undying allegiance to the DCEU?

Huh, got exactly what I wanted. Or well, at least what I expected. I wouldn't preferred maybe a bit more depth to ego's character so that way we feel more for Star lord when it's revealed that he's evil.
I thought it was cool seeing Star lord with superpowers, I thought a few of the jokes (the "pretty necklace", the PAC man joke at the end) were kinda weak but I actually thought like 90% of the humor worked, and the action scenes were just beautiful to witness.
Idk, I saw an ad saying "MCU at it's finest" and I do agree, it's behind Avengers, First Guardians and Civil war, but tied with IM1, Winter Soldier and Ant-man for me. Heavily enjoyed it and it has surprisingly great re watch value, also Mantis=π

I agree. It almost pissed me off when they suggested ONCE AGAIN that biological fathers will either turn out to be disappointing, dumb like Homer Simpsons or straight evil. I mean, to do that with a great father figure like Kurt Russell really pisses me off. Why don't they ever suggest that mothers can be a detriment?

The humor was excellent imo. I laughed quite a bit, even more than with the first one. Storywise it didn't hold up with the first one. And the fight scenes at the end were a bit of a blur, not really good. (Imo, ofcourse)
But I did laugh a heck of a lot, so many fun scenes. Perhaps the focus was too much on that. There were serious moments, but those were too simplistic.
Still, not a bad movie, and I guess that's good enough.

Movie was good fun and that's about it.
It wasn't spectacular and it wasn't poor. The soundtrack wasn't as good this time around, the humour I'd say was probably as good, the story was weaker and the action....maybe around the same.
Visually I'd say it was better
I'd give it a 7/10 the same as the first.

It only has a 5.5/10 on IMDBv2.0, which is a very underwhelming score.

I swear. If Marvel filmed dog poop for two hours, you people would eat it all up with a spoon. If any other name was behind this silly POS, it would be considered as dumb as Jupiter Ascending.
Kurt Russell is the WORST CHOICE to play an evil character. That's probably why Death Proof didn't go over that well. Kurt is just too good at being a hero.
But I wonder. Does everyone who loves this movie have massive daddy issues? Are they a bunch of manginas who secretly hate their own sex??

Um, yes. That's what you all call your hangups regarding all the bad things daddy ever did to you, isn't it?? lol. He couldn't have possibly been doing it for your own good right?? Maybe leaving was best for you, because he didn't know how to be a parent.... Maybe he yelled at you because you needed to really get it into your head not to stick your chubby little finger in the socket.... :-( Boo-hoo. Why does society hate fathers but worship mothers so much today?
