The first three films were decent horror flicks, and you're right, I hated Paranormal Activity 4. The spin-off film, The Marked Ones, was a step in the right direction, but the fifth official film was another disappointment.

I wished they had continued with the spin off ideas. I liked 1 and 2 and 4. 3 was ok? 5 was just bad. |

I like the first and third. Marked Ones is a fun spinoff. 4 isn’t that bad but I was bored with 2 and 5 just plain sucked. I think the 4th one gets too much hate. I thought it had some genuinely creepy moments. I don’t think it lives up to the first 2 but it is much better than 5. The only thing I didn’t like about the spin off was the ending. I don’t believe that was the original idea for what Mika saw at the end of the first one and it ruined the ending of the first one for me. I would have rather seen what Mika saw at the end of the first. |

Only seen the first. Thought it was extremely creepy and unsettling. Too bad about the silly ending.

Fr the most part I really like found footage films. The Blair Witch Project is a favorite of mine. The Paranormal Activity series Im not the biggest fan of. I didnt think the first one was scary at all but rather liked parts 2 and 3.

The first three had their qualities, but of the big three horror franchises of the 21st century (Saw, Paranormal Activity and The Purge), this is clearly the weakest. I don't think the Saw franchise will ever die because it's so iconic, and with America's political climate The Purge will remain relevant for years to come. Paranormal Activity doesn't have the same iconography or the same cultural relevance.
