Anyone else love this movie as much as I do? What are your favorite songs? I first saw this movie when I was maybe 6 years old and I fell in love with the Jesse Pearson playing Conrad Birdie. As I got older it was Bobby Rydell playing Hugo and later and still now and I think always it will be Dick van Dyke playing anyone.

You've got a big fan here. My favorite film of all time! So entertaining from the opening theme with Ann-Margret (never saw anything like that) to her final "Bye Bye!" Every song is a winner. BBB was also my first drive-in experience.

I am so jealous that you got to experience it at the drive-in!! Was it a modern drive in or years ago? It is so entertaining. It is one of my all time favorite movies as well. What song is your favorite? I catch myself humming "I've got a lot of livin to do!" way too often. Also this movie so so funny! Even subtle things like costume choices were picked to to get a laugh from the viewer. See Conrad's robe:

I love Jesse Pearson too, thought he was so sexy. And Bobby Rydell has a great voice, one of the best from that era

Really enjoy this film. Sprightly score and Ann Margret is phenomenal. Really miss Chita Rivera as Rosie. I've seen that Shriners number from the bway version and it was hilarious. Janet Leigh did not pull it together.
I especially love the teen dancing. It was loose and free, a lot like social dancing of the time. But when they went to more choreographed numbers like lot of living to do, that was spectacular too.

As one myself, I do miss the 'English Teacher' number.
"A man who's got his Master's is really someone How proud I'd be if you had become one."

Big fan here as well. I love "I've got a lotta living". That song is the highlight of the movie for me. Also really like the telephone song. But I like most of the tracks

As one myself, I do miss the 'English Teacher' number. They rewrote the script and character and everything. I guess they thought an English teacher isn't really someone (unlike Mrs. Phi Beta Kappa Peterson).

When I saw the musicals forum, Bye Bye Birdie was the first to pop into my head! Yes, I love this movie too! Maybe one of my top movies. Such a fun, colorful, good-mood movie. I love Dick Van Dyke.
Bye Bye Birdie will be NBC's annual live musical for this year (December). Jennifer Lopez is producing and she has cast herself as Rosie. Too early to know who will star in the other roles.

How can you guys not mention Maureen Stapleton as Dick's mother? She's hilarious!
And the great Paul Lynde with his signature song, "Kids." Wow. And I like the Ed Sullivan song, too. In order to appreciate it, you have to be old enough to remember what a sensation the Ed Sullivan Show was, back in the day.

You gotta be sincere. I love that entire scene. Everyone fainting over Conrad is hilarious.

The Ed Sullivan song was funny too. I wasn't alive in the 60's, but I think everybody knows how Iconic Ed Sullivan and the show was
