movielover : That is AWESOME! Thank you for posting.
The theme for Halloween came up in the The Simpsons a couple of times.
Speaking of horror:
Back when I was working music retail, I was trying to come up with a couple of soundtracks that would appeal to the masses.
So, I came up with The Faculty and Idle Hands.
(I know Idle Hands is a comedy/horror.)
The Faculty soundtrack had all the good groups, such as Creed, Soul Asylum, garbage, Stabbing Westward and the like. Idle Hands The Offspring, Blink 182, Static-X....
Turns out...I was probably the only one that both of those soundtracks appealed to. I don't think I sold either one.

"New Year's Evil" ( New Year's Evil) - Shadow End credits song from Graveyard Shift "Warrior of Love" ( Don't Open Till Christmas) - Caroline Munro "Love Me Till I Die" (Prom Night) "Hush" ( I Know What You Did Last Summer) - Kula Shaker Some awesome song selection choices from these horror films here Ass_E9 . I'm very familiar with the songs from " Prom Night " , " I Know What You Did Last Summer " , and " Graveyard Shift " all really memorable . Surprisingly I have not seen the movies or heard the songs from - " New Year's Evil " and " Don't Open Till Christmas " but these songs seem like really good ones too . I will have to check out these films on Wikipedia very soon . Thanks so much Ass_E9 for your reply .

Joker's Wilde Hello there Joker's Wilde and thanks so much for your reply here too . It seems your not alone here either I also own the CD Soundtrack to the movie " The Faculty " and I just loved it and still do ( even though I really loved every song on the album I almost put a few of my favorite stand-out songs up on my original post here too ) . I actually bought my slightly used original CD copy ( and in perfect condition too ) at a record store years ago before most record stores in my area closed up completely . I also really liked the movie - an excellent memorable cast too . What were some of your favorites from this album ? Again surprisingly I have not heard of this movie " Idle Hands " but will definitely check it all out on Wikipedia too . Also it's totally fine if this is a comedy / horror too that's why I just categorized this post as Horror so it can be more versatile when choosing a film for the song choices .

I'm not sure if this counts, but I didn't mind the cover of Blue Öyster Cult's 'Don't Fear the Reaper' by The Mutton Birds, which played over the closing credits of the movie The Frighteners (a favourite movie of mine).

Whoa ! Excellent choice there Chalice_Of_Evil thanks so much for sharing this awesome video here too ( this song is a favorite of mine as well ) . IMPO - Not only does this one count here the song itself also represents death and in most horror flicks death seems to be the very standard theme ( well done there ! ) . I'm not sure if you know this ( but I believe most likely you already do here ) this awesome song was featured in 2 other movies - Halloween 1978 and SK's The Stand 1994 .

Could happily post John Carpenter's music all day, but instead...
Death Line
Can't find the opening but Guitar Wolf (the greatest live band EVER) did the music and starred in the zombie flick Wild Zero
Some great tracks used in horrors but not as themes...
Scream 1-3
The only thing I like about The Lost Boys
From Return Of The Living Dead

Definitely can't go wrong with memorable hits from Johnny Cash and The Doors for sure but the one that really caught my ear was the one from Death Line aka Raw Meat 1972quite jazzy indeed . Also the other songs from " Scream 1-3 " , " Return Of The Living Dead " and " Wild Zero 1999 " were just awesome as well . Thanks so much sostie for your reply .

I love the music from "Silent Hill." I leave the movie on in the background just for the music. In fact, it's on right now. According to the Wikipedia entry for Silent Hill, with the exception of one piece, the music is by Akira Yamaoka and Jeff Danna.

My memory’s a tad fuzzy, on account of this happening quite some time ago, but I vaguely recall someone I met informed that they had heard Blue Öyster Cult's ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ play at an airport as a plane was coming in to land (or was taking off. I forget) - this apparently reminded them of the opening from The Stand (which I haven’t seen) and they thought it was very fitting to hear the song at that time.

Movie featured a then unknown Jessica Alba.
I never did pick up "The Faculty" on CD.
Horror/terror isn't really my thing. Then again, I thought "The Monster Squad" and "Gremlins" were horror films. That was...until a friend (at the time) mentioned that "Gremlins" is more comedy than anything.
