Heard Simon Jordan discussing it on the radio. He says they have no claim. All clubs sign up to an agreement before each season that effectively allows for errors, otherwise you would have law suits all the time.

I never understood the need for this particular technology. It's such a rare occurrence that there would be doubt over whether or not the ball has crossed the line that it hardly seems worth to develop a system just for that.

Can't agree with you there at all. Loads of close calls every season. Hawkeye has done away with all the doubt - well, we thought it had until the incident discussed.

Sure City only won the league, and Liverpool lost their only game, last season because Hawk-Eye correctly decided that Stones cleared the ball off his own line. The Villa/Utd decision proved vital at the other end of the table this season. It's a very important and needed application. That it is not 100% correct is concerning.
