I like the cinematic feel of landscape, but it ultimately would depend on the subject.

For a second I thought this had to do with the layout you print stuff off of your computer.

I like the cinematic feel of landscape, but it ultimately would depend on the subject. That’s how I take photos but my mind still prefers landscape for videos (especially when people upload them to YouTube). People used to complain about the black bars on TV when they watched widescreen films but seem to be okay with the black spaces at the sides when they watch narrowscreen videos.

Neither. I take everything upside down and move the camera real fast and just surprise myself and see what comes out.

Always landscape. When you want to watch you're videos on the big widescreen TV then you only do that with landscape to fill the screen

Landscape. LANDSCAPE. LANDSCAPE!
However I can understand people using portrait under unplanned/casual circumstances.
BUT...if portrait footage is played on a standard ratio screen could they please place BLACK bars at the side, NOT bars made up of an enlarged, blurred copy of the main image.

Landscape for outdoor environments and group photos; portrait when filming myself or someone else

How do you hold your phone when making videos? You have a phone that can take videos ? What will they think of next ?
