The Guardian resurrected this old article about 88 movies due to appear in 2015 which they were "excited' about. If that was their pick of the most promising, it surprises me how many I have never heard of, and how many, of which I have heard, have since sunk without trace. I guess many never got finished or released. I do not suppose that year was untypical so there must be a high rate of "wastage" in the industry. 88 most promising movies due in 2015

I have heard of way more than half..... I think most got finished - but not necessarily by Spring 2015 - The Dolan film surfaced in 2018 minus Chastain but with Natalie Portman, for example...
I thought quite a few were OK - the BONd was the best since the 60s ones I thought .... 45 YEARS was good, the MADDING CROWD remake in itself solid (if a shadow of the Schlesinger),,,, CAROL was fine... CRIMSON PEAK a splendid Gothic thriller..... the Coens HAIL CAESAR ... HIGH RISE.... some good ones do pop up now and again.
I nominate RICKI & THE FLASH as the biggest stinker although I'll confess I can't tell the AVENGERS ones apart and I think one of them was worse than RICKI but I couldn't be sure which....

Of the 88 I have heard of 27 (31%) but sometimes had to recall some of them to mind. I had read reviews but had forgotten many because they sank out of sight almost immediately.
Of the 27 I have seen 12 (44%). I did, on the whole, like what I saw mainly, I think, because I pick what I watch very carefully, esp. new movies.

Could I possible have seen any of them?
Far From the Madding Crowd , got angry since she choosed wrong men, at least it engaged
Hail Caesar! , didn't get it
In the Heart of the Sea , liked this one
Tomorrowland , did it even sound good in the first draft?
4 out of 88, LOL!

Could I possible have seen any of them? Far From the Madding Crowd , got angry since she choosed wrong men, at least it engaged Interesting take... For me the biggest fault of this new version - aside from casting someone who wasn't Julie Christie in the lead - was that it telegraphed very quickly which of the 3 suitors would win her.... the Schlesinger was far more equivocal and made for a more interesting view.... Sgt Troy's presence in this adaptation is substantially diminished (the new version some 50 minutes shorter than the 67 one)... and Tom Sturridge has an uphill struggle trying to erase memories of Terence Stamp.
