Bonnie Raitt writes some of the songs she records, and interprets others. She's recorded a number of songs composed by Eric Kaz in her career. Kaz was a member of Blues Magoos. He also composed music for filmmaker Brian De Palma's satires 'Greetings' (1968) and 'Hi Mom!' (1970).
Their creative relationship wasn't quite that of Bobby Bare and Shel Silverstein, or Dr. Hook and Shel Silverstein - and as far as I'm aware there's no lost work hidden deep inside the vaults like 'Fried Face' (1974) or 'Great American Saturday Night' (1978) - but Raitt continued returning to Kaz's songbook for material.
Another interesting songwriter she recorded songs by in the 1970s was Joel Zoss. I've listened to songs from his album 'Joel Zoss' (1975) just recently, and I enjoyed them.
