Immediately thought of The Bird. I know most of you all weren't around in 1976, hell I was only a kid, but it got to be an EVENT when that guy pitched. The greatest one year wonder of all-time. My favorite Red Sox one year wonder? Nick Esasky in 1989, that guy was incredible for one year.

Nick Esasky was a part-time player who got traded to the Sox in 1989, hit like 37 home runs and was awesome beyond belief, then got vertigo the next spring training and was basically never heard from again. Very strange and short career.
