Words like "genius" and "legend" get thrown around a lot in culture circles, but I think it'd be fair to say prolific songwriter, composer and musician Charles Aznavour really was a legend touched by some kind of genius. Even his film career was pretty unusual, at times cutting-edge, at times stellar - for latin Europeans, he combined the musical skills of Elton John, the poetic stature of Smokey Robinson and the iconic status of Frank Sinatra into one man, a man Edith Piaf held in the highest regard in terms of talent.

In terms of film SHOOT THE PIANIST probably his most feted but my favourite is LES DRAGUERS (THE CHASERS.. or THE YOUNG HAVE NO MORALS as it was luridly titled in UK). Two lads having a night on the pull is the "plot".. Aznavour the shy one, Jacques Charrier (Mr Bardot at one point) the ladies man.... Belinda Lee (pictured below), Dany Robin & Anouk Aimee among their quarry...

The latest movie I've seen with Charles Aznavour was Sky Riders 1976, were he played a Greek Police Inspector. A kidnapping action movie co-starring James Coburn, Susannah York and Robert Culp.
