A slight relapse made yesterday a Bad Day at Black Rock which caused a delay in the promised monthly report.
But upon further consideration, I came to the sad realization that all of those reports for the past year have been severely tainted, and are not truthful reflections of the honest efforts of so many honest players.
In addition to the dominance of player Romy/Ewoyn during that time period, and the recent discovery that ex-player 'M' has been posting and claiming to be selling contest results, it has made the listing of monthly reports suspect and possibly fraudulent.
While I find it highly doubtful that the players whom I have been fortunate to know and admire and trust would actually track down the blogs that 'M' created and invited players to dip into its poisoned waters, nevertheless the seeds of doubt have been planted, due to his bragging about players making use of his services.
Of course, being a liar as well as a cheat is not beyond the bounds of possibility. 'M' has admitted just yesterday to a scolding GG regular that he has deleted his celebrated flash drive containing every Garth Game. And yet many contests still appear on his several blogs.
I wish this never would have occurred. Preparing and monitoring these games has been nothing less than a happy experience. But best of all has been the joy of interacting with a wonderful bunch of people. If the games are to end, I will miss you all. I thank you for the many memories you have given me -- that shall last for the rest of my shortened lifetime.
I have actually planned many of my days around GGs--and I know others have too. I think I have played in most of the games on THIS Board. By using the "View this member's recent threads" of mattgarth (his user name, starting on February 20, 2017), I found that, much to may amazement, I had actually won a couple games
I am most concerned about your health now. I think there must be other ways to handle the bastardly blogger.
I just bought a new Windows 10 computer in hopes of speeding up my responses for GGs--among other things. I will probably be PMing you once I get somewhat comfortable with this new machine I am using.......
Triva question for Matt Garth---We all know that your user ID is based on Montgomery Clift's character in Red River (1948), but do you know of any other movie characters named "Matt Garth"?
The actor who portrayed that Matt Garth is an Oscar winner who deserves a GG of his own.
Matt, do whatever it takes to get better and know that all the good people on here will be thinking of you. If it means you stop posting, then thankyou very, very much for the joy to have brought to your players, especially one from down under.
Matt. The extent of Romy’s crimes is still unclear to me (I’m slow) but the impact it has made on you is most upsetting. I’m so sorry this had to happen but don’t let Romy’s poison overwhelm you. Please know how much you mean to the rest of us. An announcement of an upcoming Garth Game is almost always the best news I get that day. Please concentrate on your health. Nothing is more important. As long as it takes, please know that we’re all here rooting for you and waiting for you.
Sad to hear that we may no see the games in the future - they have been great fun, and especially most welcome over this weird year, and for that I thank you for the time and effort you have put in, and the fun they have produced.
But above all, I wish you well health wise. Hope to see you back regularly very soon.
Matt, Hope you don't let this cretin upsets you that much. I know it is hard considering the time and effort you put into these games, but not worth it to get yourself agitated and worsen your health. You get better, and then we can reboot the game.

Someone claimed to be selling contest results? And someone was buying them?! I hope this site doesn't go the way of the old IMDb boards--spoiled by a few childish social misfits with nothing better to do.
In his film debut in The Filthy Five, actor Frederic Forrest was billed as Matt Garth.
They were posting them for sure . And despite claims that they have been removed I doubt that’s true. Matt has created 2 puzzles a week for at least 6 years. The format has been the same for at least four of those years. The number of different questions is finite. Mat chooses to stick to Oscar nommed actors of the talkie era for the most part. So there are limits. I have noticed over the years that certain quizzes ( matching author and film, bway and Hollywood, tv and Hollywood, quotes, professions, love triangles ,family members etc) have reappeared . That seems inevitable to me.
I have been toying with ways to stop the cheaters from being able to ram the board with answers culled from these blogs. A limit on posting? What if it was like a cereal contest where you had to pm your completed form with all answers filled in? Any9ne else have a way to change the posting?
Anyone can start an insane asylum with an empty room and the right kind of people
There used to be a game on the old board were you ID-ed a film from a single screen frame-- you sent in your list of answers to the QM via PM and all who answered correctly got the "credit" .... BUT this only works where it is a right or wrong quiz .. like the quotes and the biographies . The others all have the halfers and the KPs so .... unless there is no overlap ... and overlap is what the GGs are all about ! This PM idea has been tossed around but the snags have not been unraveled ... yet !
TOO pissed and upset about the cheating to comment.... and worried and concerned about Matt's health !
I have had passion projects ruined by others and it made me very sick, I can't give any advice there-wish I could. Creative passion is its own kind of personal madness at times. Hoping for the best Matt.

My mind was toying with a sort of Baker's Dozen format, only live. All the possibilities have not shaken out yet.
Bakers Dozens is especially "live" when time zones mesh ... as you know, it is great fun playing in "real time" .. have to do a lot of editing to keep the numbers in order ... three way ties of GMTAing with the exact same entry in obscure topics have occurred !
Looking forward to seeing what you shake out idea-wise
