James Hong has a small role in my favorite movie, CHINATOWN. He, astonishingly, has over 430 additional credits. James is 91 years old and still hard at work. He’s probably seen it all in Hollywood. I just wanted to share this short but interesting article about him. James Hong

I am trying to think of times when Hong played a character that was not necessarily Asian. In Black Widow he played an addicted detective.he had lots of smart chat with Debra Winger and Teresa Russell.
He had a tiny role in Flower Drum song. I always watch for him because I know he is a smart actor and he is bound to do something interesting.

In Colossus the Forbin Project he isn't strictly playing an Asian.
"Colossus has just turned on...I am sending the design for another system...some kind of a huge plant. The construction of the project will entail blasting in to the Isle of Crete. It's to be built there. It says we'll have to move the population. And that's to be done immediately...and the estimated time of completion is five and a half years."

He had a low key dignity I liked, especially effective as without being a passive actor he was a classy one, disinclined to draw much attention to himself, and yet his screen presence was a solid one.

James Hong is in everything...or so it seems. Love this guy! Here he is in John Carpenter's cult classic, Big Trouble in Little China (1986).

I just got a call. I yell 'Cartwright! Cartwright!', just like that. Nobody came up, I hang up.
I tell her you not here, she said curse word, I hang up.
