And I've found over the years that I'm much more harsh than most regarding that franchise. I thought DOFP was just as terrible as Apocalypse, but for different reasons. First Class might be my favorite outside of Logan, I'm not a huge fan of X2. Deadpool is fun but is it even the same universe? It doesn't feel like it. The whole thing is such a mess, every film was practically a soft reboot of the franchise.

Probably not as harsh as my opinion has become. Looking back on the films, I see them as a much-needed stepping stone for the genre, but if I said that I thought they were classics or masterpieces, that would be a stretch. Re-watching all of the films recently, my opinion has been officially revised downward. I no longer have the energy or desire to be polite when discussing these films. I think the vast majority of them sucked.

It’s crazy how all these people were willing to work with Bryan Singer again for DoFP.

It’s crazy how all these people were willing to work with Bryan Singer again for DoFP. It's not entirely surprising that they chose to come back. There were likely several factors at play in their decision. New Blood: Matthew Vaughn, fresh off the relative success of First Class, was initially slated to Direct DoFP. The original cast was likely approached when Vaughn was set to direct. Berry later goes on to work with him in ...The Golden Circle. Clout: The franchise had picked up some momentum with First Class. Coming back may have been more of a strategic move. Berry is a good example as she was coming off of a string of clunkers just prior... The Band got back together: Once one or two people were signed, as is the tradition in Hollywood, none of the others wanted to be left out. Money: The last time Berry was in an X-Men film before DoFP was The Last Stand. Her status as an actor had changed significantly, and DoFP must have represented a decent payday and a much-needed boost for the business that is Halley Berry. Time: A lot of the older cast had not worked with Singer for some time upon returning to the franchise. They may have assumed that he'd mellowed out or gotten his act together since he was still working for the most part. I'm not exceptionally prone to these types of meanderings, but I do wonder what the Valkyrie set must have been like. I suspect Cruise likely didn't lay down for any nonsense during that production.

The Weapon X part kinda seems tact on.

Which as well could be stipulated that he not actually work with Singer, second unit could have shot that without Singer involved, and you never know if Jackman had any other pre-existing deal in place, and/or did it as a favour, like ok I'll cameo in Apocalypse but then we get an extra $5m for Logan. Then again maybe Jackman thought Singer wasn't as bad in DOFP and figured he had matured so he was happy to come in for a cameo, did Singer act up on DOFP? or maybe the studios already knew to put a minder on Singer in the later movies knowing his past issues and what with social media these days that they couldn't afford to have Singer cause an issue like he had so they had someone from the studio on stand by on set to keep him in check or something, and yeah a payday gets a lot of people to do a lot of things in Hollywood, why else did so many predators remain active in high levels for so long without an issue regarding lack of willing actors and actress's to work with coming up? Simple the money kept people coming back despite their personal issues with the fuckers.

Actors have a tendency to overexaggerate things. This either a) a lot of lies or b) not as bad as they're making it out. All of them came back after all and if if the situation was as bad as they say they wouldn't have. I wonder if Halle Berry being pissy about wanting more screen time had anything to do with it.
