Josh Bell is a tale of two players.
1st half 2019: .302/.376/.648 (1.024 OPS), 27 HR, 84 RBI, 102 hits, 30 2B, 69 runs in 388 PA
2nd half 2019: .233/.351/.419 (.780 OPS), 10 HR, 32 RBI, 44 hits, 7 2B, 25 runs in 225 PA
Thus far in 2020, he's off to a sluggish .194/.211/.278 (.488 OPS) start, with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 13 Ks against 1 BB in 38 PA, good for a putrid 35 OPS+. I know they're sandwiching him between Evans and Moran, who are the only two guys hitting right now for the Bucs, and I was about to say they need to drop Bell down in the lineup, but literally nobody else is producing. In today's starting lineup, Frazier, Bell, Reynolds, Polanco, Gonzalez, and Dyson are all hitting under .200. Vomit-inducing offense.
So "afternoon baseball" is relative when you have a collection of scrubs out there.
