So, I re-bought ANH and ROTJ on Blu-Ray as these are sourced from a new 4K remaster. I have to say, they were worth the update.
Yeah, "Maclunky" is added to ANH, but the improved color and picture quality is fixed. And, finally, for the first time in almost 20 years, Luke's lightsaber is blue again when he's training on the Falcon.
ROTJ is such an improvement. More consistent starfields (the 2011 Blu Ray had shots where the stars looked blue), more focused image, and cleaned up garbage mattes (although they didn't get every one).
I'm sticking with Adywan's fan edit of ESB rather than double dipping that one.
Here's the annoying thing: the only way to get the new cut on Blu-Ray is to buy it bundled with the 4K disc set. Disney is also selling new editions of the Star Wars Blu-Rays, but they are just repackaged versions of the 2011 cuts.
