The first one is only a classic because of the satire that was put in place, some really memorable quotes and the Paul Verhoeven style violence. I'm not entirely sure if they will able to recreate that. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if this reboot was PG-13.

Though, they could make the reboot be more faithful to the original book by Robert A. Heinlein. I also wouldn't be surprised if they make it PG-13. And if they do, they apparently forgotten that R rated films can be financially successful. Films like John Wick, Deadpool, and Joker have proven that when done right, R rated films can bring in a ton of money.

Another unnecessary reboot. That's what I thought. Unless they want to do something different with it and strictly adapt it from the book, I don't see how this is necessary. Plus, the timing of them announcing a possible reboot of this film is a little suspicious because the current pandemic is slowing everything down right now and people are more focused on trying to stay healthy and safe. Not to mention, Sony announced that they wanted to make more R rated animated films and I don't know if they also mean making more R rated live-action films for them to decide to reboot this film. I could be wrong, though.

Well, the screenwriters for the reboot have their work cut out for them, unless they find a way to alter the politics of this story.

It's been done, and the Verhoevan one still holds up today. Sounds pretty pointless.

It will probably be an all female army and Juanita Rico will be played by Vanessa Hudgens.

Heinlein may have been a rightwing nutjob towards the end, but his book was still a hell of a read. God knows what Verhoevan was on about when he made the movie.

I once saw a clip of Verhoevan saying "People like these characters? They're fascists!" Verhoevan is probably a left wing nut who calls all military fascists, though.

I say it should be sometime like this: A PG-13 Super woke SJW fare where the bugs are the victims and an evil corporation is taken down be the hero, A Transsexual black woman who infiltrates the Space Marines and makes everything right.

The movie doesn't work for me, but a remake sounds pointless. I am generally not a fan of Verhoeven's style of satire. For example, the performances in his movies tend to be bad. Every performance in Starship Troopers is bad besides Clancy Brown and Michael Ironside imo. The movie also just becomes too redundant in the second half imo. The fascist satire is on point, but that can only take it so far. RoboCop succeeds where Starship Troopers fails. It manages to be clever satire, emotionally compelling, gritty and entertaining. Starship Troopers hits the first note, but it fails to be entertaining or interesting at the level of RoboCop.

The bugs are somewhat the victims in the original movie. They started to attack human territory because the Federation was already invading theirs.

They are BUGS!!! Sure, they are meant to represent contempt for other nations, but they are BUGS!!! There is too much of a disconnect for me between the literal and the metaphor in this case.

Even though I haven't seen the film yet, I've seen clips of it and I'm not feeling the fascism vibe. Seeing things like Neil Patrick Harris' character dressed almost like a nazi rubbed me the wrong way. I could be wrong but I think that some of the main reasons why RoboCop did better and is more beloved than Starship Troopers is because the former film didn't have fascism as part of its satire and didn't force us as the audience to go along with that.
