It's been quiet on here! NuClaire is on this week I guess judging by the promo video.
Monday August 10 Allie disappears and leaves a letter with a shocking request. Ben is haunted by his brainwashing. Will and Sami reconcile. Claire and Marlena discuss Claire’s plans for the future.
Tuesday August 11 Justin has a surprise for Bonnie. Ben hides his unease from Ciara. Gabi and Jake have a huge blow up. Kate recounts to Abe her bitter rivalry with Vivian.
Wednesday August 12 Sami, Nicole, and Eric search for Allie. Sami seeks help from Belle. Sonny and Will work on their relationship. Claire covers for Allie.
Thursday August 13 Ben has a nightmare of strangling Ciara. Rafe and Hope share a close moment. Eve arrives in Salem. Jake and Gwen fight over his relationship with Gabi.
Friday August 14 Eve pleads with Claire not to turn her in. Gabi and Jake get surprising news. Ben encounters Vincent in Marlena’s office. Gwen kisses Chad!

So Eve tried to brainwash Ben? (Sigh) whatever....
Why? Why is this possibly necessary?
I envision them just sort of roaming around in front of the hedge bush and/or the Horton Square set, and then she happens to randomly walk into one of them; probably Eric or Nicole, who will agree not to say they saw her. And just as she walks off frame, Sami will arrive and ask if they found her. They'll hesitate, look constipated, the show will cut to some other scene; and when they come back, Sami will probably repeat the question and Eric and/or Nicole will say "no."
I'm not sure what to think about the new Claire. I looked her up last night and I was surprised to see she's 28. She looked younger in images I saw of her, and figured it might be an Eric Martsolf/Brady type thing, but seeing this video, I'm thinking those were just older images.
I don't know why it annoys me so much that they play so fast and loose with everyone's ages, but it does... I hated how much they aged Claire in the first place, and obviously there's some leeway with the actor's age vs the character's, but this just seems ridiculous to me.

Sorry I haven’t posted this past week. Been enjoying some vacation at the shore this past week and this week as well. Guess I haven’t been missing much with the show. It actually feels great taking a break from Days. I definitely want to see Phillip’s return but most of the returns have been so blah. This Eve thing and torturing Ben was so awful from the previews I’ve seen. They need to send her character off permanently.

I'm afraid it's a little bit cyclical for my participation; I haven't been watching in a while, so if no one is posting anything here, I'm less aware of what's going on on the show (other than some of what I glean from various Facebook posts, like Jason47, Dustin's page or the Days FB page). When quarantine hit, I just didn't feel like watching. I turned back in like a month or two ago, briefly, but when the announcement for Allie's return came, I was done. Like I said, I hate the SORASing crap as it is. For Allie to come back in her 20s or however she's supposed to be now is bad enough, but then to make her pregnant too is just stupid; and my tollerance for stupid shit is already maxed out with this show.
It's like having an emotionally abusive friend or something; you keep coming back, because they're sort of the anchor of a larger group of friends, whom you pretty much all like better than the person who brings you all together. And you keep hoping that they're going to respect your intelligence whenever you give them a chance again, but they just keep lowering the bar instead.

You haven't missed much honestly. The stuff with Allie is annoying. She is so irrationally angry and dismissive towards Sami, I mean I get Sami is a lot, but she's your mother for crying out loud. Everyone is enabling Allie.
I read somewhere that people were hoping this was all an attempt by Nicole to manipulate Allie to get back at Sami. I hope that is the case because Nicole is so boring now. As much as I want her and Eric together, if he's leaving and they aren't recasting the role, this would be a good exit story for him and also get Nicole back to her devious ways.
SORASing Claire was weird as it essentially stops Belle and Shawn from having any more kids, although Bo and Hope did have an adult son when they had Ciara so I guess it could happen but yeah.
I'm looking forward to Philip's return and how he clashes with Xander.
Did anyone see the Sarah/Xander reconciliation sex scene? It was SO RACY for daytime! She was dressed very provactively and was ACTUALLY topless in the scenes, not covered with a sheet. I was a little surprised by it.

I was a little surprised by it. I'll admit, after reading your post, I looked it up out of curiosity; to see just how provocative it could possibly be - and holy shit. I half expected porno bass music to kick in, but instead it had a cheesy, late-90s-esque ballad underneath it. I don't know if that helped the mood or hurt it. Of course, I'm not even sure what a good sex scene should look like in movies or television; they generally fade out as a couple starts kissing, then cut to a post-coidal afterglow and make every experience as if they just watched Mickey Mouse bring actual magic to life in the real world. In this case they made the visual more literal, or as close as they could while being on NBC, but they still tried to keep that sort of "the earth moved, isn't it romantic" vibe and it all just seems incongruent. I'm no prude by any means, but do these scenes even advance the plot of anything? Ever since I read his book and learned he tried to be a musician and even wrote music for the show, whenever one of these knock-off ballads plays on Days, I can't help but wonder if Corday wrote it. He seems like someone who'd be stuck stylistically in the 80s/90s.

Right? I am no prude either but with the harsh daytime lighting it just seemed really risque for 1pm in the middle of the week lol
The music definitely didn't suit the images. I was just honestly really surprised they showed that in daytime...Sarah looking for Xander to take her from behind and hiding her boobs with her arm was just really not what I was expecting for a daytime love scene.

I was just honestly really surprised they showed that in daytime...Sarah looking for Xander to take her from behind and hiding her boobs with her arm was just really not what I was expecting for a daytime love scene. Don't get me wrong, I had no complaints per se with Sarah's part of the scene; she's gorgeous. But it was definitely weird. At the same time, like I was saying, I think most sex scenes in any show are movie or, more often than not, just strange things to include. There are, ostensibly exceptions, which I can't think of offhand; other than the one with Kristen Bell and Russell Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall - just because it's so absurd, it's hilarious. But when it's supposed to be the culmination of some beautiful romance, it's just conceptionally weird. And I don't mean that as a play on words, but maybe I should. Because it's the same level of weirdness when people, especially family, badger newlyweds about having kids; there's an odd disconnect between having kids and the act that's necessary to have kids, that casually gets glossed over. And the same thing happens whenever it gets incorporated into a movie or show; sex is so often romanticized in pop-culture, but arguably the more literal or graphic they get, the more you get into an area, as a viewer, that's less clear about how you're supposed to process this. For any story, the audience is this third-party tag-along; and any good writer wants you to feel what the characters feel, or some degree of their experience. But with most sex scenes, what are you supposed to feel? Are you supposed to feel the Disney magic, and picture fireworks going off, and a dulcet choir singing in the background, as angels cheer from the heavens? It's presumably not supposed to turn you on, but if you're not vicariously sharing that moment with the characters, you're left with the uncomfortable feeling that you're a perv watching a private moment. So I always kind of struggle with what exactly those types of scene are supposed to add.

I guess in most films it's to portray the connection/seriousness/falling in love aspect of the relationship in very visual terms. Feelings are hard to convey without images I guess.
Ben and Ciara's scene yesterday was downright tame compared to the Xander/Sarah one.
I was thinking about Sarah...I am really surprised how quickly she forgave Xander. I mean what he did was pretty awful. That's soaps for you.

I haven’t seen the episodes of this week yet since I’m away on vacation. Days has never really done racy love scenes as daytime dramas focused more on romance than eroticism. But I do remember a few years back when Y&R wanted to explore more racy scenes and showed Doug Davison’s nude backside. I don’t think that soaps need to do this since you can see so much of that on Netflix. But I think they’re trying to do whatever they can to attract more viewers.

Well when you get back to reality, Flyboy, you can check out the scenes and see what you think. Like I said, 100% out of left field and not expecting it at all!
