She leads the cast in a very strange film, LADIES IN RETIREMENT. She plays a housekeeper to a retired actress trying to stretch the job to enable her to care for her totally crazy sisters, played by Elsa Lanchester and Edith Barret. It could have gone into comedy or horror but it ended up in strange tale. Looks promising !

I did not know until recently:
Acting was her family's idea. She preferred writing and directing.
She was a polio survivor and made a polio film: Never Fear (1949).
When directing she managed the crew by making them call her "Mother", as in "Stan, Mother has a problem. Could we shift the camera this way..."
