I used to appreciate his choice of movies he starred in, even though I only liked 3-4. Now with "Rampage" its just getting silly, and I can't believe he is Hollywood's best paid actor.
Also his ego is beyond annoying, sure every actor/actress has an ego but Johnson's is a bit, much. He constantly posts on Facebook from what I hear, more or less gloating. Though he does seem to be "thankful" for having a movie career.
His two best films for me are The Rundown & Fast Five, the second one he wasn't the main star, until 2017 now they are discussing a spin off film with his and Stathams character, god no! I know Vin Diesel is no Daniel Day Lewis but at least he tries to act............

Johnson can act, but, like many an actor nowadays, he chooses not to do so because--well, why waste the energy? They'll pay him either way.
My greatest memory about him is going to see (for some inexplicable reason) the remake of Escape to Witch Mountain. We all get into the movie theater and sit down, and the projectionist just doesn't start playing the movie.
We look at our watches, make sure we're there at the right time (Have to be, we reason; they took our tickets!), and eventually I stand up and walk out of the theater and to the popcorn counter. The guy there alerts his manager, so on and so forth, until finally the manager of the theater comes over and opens the door to the projection room. Well, wouldn't ya know it, the projectionist thought the movie was so unpopular that he decided that no one would come to see and didn't put the movie on. I guess he couldn't see us from the booth or something. Anyway, there was no one else in the theater, so he was right to that extent, and we watched the picture in an otherwise empty movie theater. Terrible movie (I would have completely forgotten if it weren't for the experience--even as is, I don't remember one whit of the plot), but the whole experience was kinda neat.

It's expected to a point from high profile action stars. Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Willis all made some shit movies during their careers. Some flop while others fade away;who remember ms San Andreas?

He's almost always the most enjoyable part of any movie he's in. Sans the time he was a poorly rendered, cartoon scorpion monster.

So I guess you're not voting for him in 2020.

So I guess you're not voting for him in 2020. Face it, guy's making money now because his future is probably walk on cameos as an older guy &/or cheaper indie stuff if he simply wants to act.

Johnson has been cast by Shane Black as pulp hero Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze, as well. The film is in early pre-production.
Doc Savage, whose adventures are set in the 1930s and '40s, is a combination of Hercules, Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Indiana Jones and Mr. Spock -- with a definite emphasis on the latter. (Totally logical, always in control of his emotions, and celibate.)
I like Johnson, but he is not right for the role of Doc Savage.

Vin is one of the worst actors I have ever seen though, so it is not much of a compliment, but when did he ever try to act?
The Rock is the new Arnold. He is good looking, charismatic, and a fun guy to watch on screen. I love his movies.

What's wrong with his choices?

He has a brand and his social media person probably tells him to promote it. What's wrong with his choices? "Pain & Gain" was incredibly entertaining. Dwayne Johnson is hilarious in this, and his character is the movie's highlight. Coincidentally, he reminds me a bit of Mark Wahlberg with his prolific career, some good, some duds. Like Wahlberg, I find Johnson to be quite a good actor (he's got that Arnold charm and excellent comedic timing) in some movies. Neither of the two seem to take themselves too seriously, while seem genuine in trying to put in good performances. Keep 'em coming, both of ya.

the mk ultra on him was SPECIAL. When you do electric shock treatment to a person that's normal it will damage their brain. I told everyone! This is the face of someone who has just been reprogrammed.

for me the only movies he appeared in that i like are the Fast and Furious movies with Fast Five being the height for sure. it's also Ludacris favorite of the series to as i heard him say it himself on TV not long ago.
i see how Baywatch turns out eventually but given my impression of it from the trailers etc we got so far i won't be surprised if i don't like it as it seems to be a safe bet it won't score higher than a 6/10(a mild Thumbs Up) for me and could easily be lower. i just hope it's at least passable for a viewing (i.e. say 5/10).
as for that spin-off... i have not heard about it until just now from you but it's probably not surprising as they are just trying to find ways to rake in loads of $$$ and being the F&F series rakes in loads of $$$ they probably figure even a smaller success will be enough to where it's worth doing on their end.
p.s. for the record... Daniel Day-Lewis gets too much credit like Meryl Streep does. both are definitely overrated, especially Streep.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My preference of the F&F series...
1.The Fast and the Furious (2001) - 7/10 2.Fast Five (2011) 3.Fast & Furious (2009) - 6-6.5/10 4.Furious Seven (2015) -.Fast & Furious 6 (2013) 6.2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) - 6/10 7.The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) - 5.5-6/10
so only two stand out and are amongst My Favorite Movies in general but the 3rd-5th spots are just outside of my favorite movies which would make them within my Top 247 movies. my Top 198 is my favorites. so basically those 6-6.5/10 rated movies above are somewhere between 199-247 for me.
