Rays are 5-1 versus the Yankees thus far and they are looking every bit the part of a contender with excellent all around play. Paxton has been gruesome thus far.
Seth Lugo gets the start tonight in Miami as the Mets look to complete the 4-game sweep of the Marlins. Lugo has been brilliant out of the pen this year (as he was last year). With the rotation in tatters and nobody else available, the Mets are moving him to the rotation. Robbing Peter to pay Paul here. Lugo has been just about the only reliable arm the Mets can trot out there, with Justin Wilson being mostly good, and Edwin Diaz, Jeurys Familia and Dellin Betances being heart attacks waiting to happen (although Diaz has looked much better in a setup role).

Rays up 8-5, Paxton was only mediocre in this one, as opposed to atrocious - 5 innings, 3 ER, 4 BBs but only 1 hit and 8 Ks. Ottavino and Avilan totally ineffective in relief. Stupid Luke Voit with another HR, he's got 10 on the year.

Xeliou66, Marlins calling up highly touted prospect Sixto Sanchez and he should get a start in the next few days. I know we all gave them heaps of shit for gutting their team a few years ago (rightfully so) but you're finally starting to see the fruits of that. Sanchez was acquired in the Realmuto trade. Their rotation is loaded with promising young arms. I watched both games where Pablo Lopez starting against the Mets (acquired when they traded David Phelps to the Ms). He's got a sneaky fastball and good looking offspeed stuff. In 4 starts this year, he's got a 2.42 ERA and a 24/5 K/BB ratio, not having yielded more than 2 runs in any start.

Yeah I heard they were calling up Sixto, I look forward to seeing him. The Fish have some good young talent, and yeah Pablo Lopez is pitching well. Unfortunately their offense is struggling again and they are in a slump right now, Mets are going for the sweep tonight.

Yeah, they added some nice guys in the offseason like Dickerson and Aguilar but they were never going to be a top offensive team. That's OK. A strong, young rotation is something they can build around.

Hopefully the White Sox can keep up this brand of baseball. Doing it to the tigers is one thing. Taking the Cubs to the woodshed would be more telling.

Padres have hit a grand slam in all four games in this series with the Rangers (with two of the games being in Texas and two in San Diego). Each was hit by a different player: Tatis, Myers, Machado, and Hosmer tonight. Feels like one of those Timmy K's "they've played baseball for 130 some years and you can still see something new every night in baseball" sort of stats.
