Am I the only one who wasn't quite blown away by this? He looks more like Riddler than Bruce Wayne outside the suit. Not impressed based on this trailer. Looks like a shittier version of what we've seen before. The design choices of pretty much everything are inferior to what's come before. And is this yet ANOTHER reboot? I'll wait for Netflix. Agreed. It doesn't look bad but nothing about it is stuff that we haven't seen before. And I maintain that Pattinson still doesn't look good as Batman. His Bruce Wayne is a bit too emo-looking and his Batman looks too heavily armored. I'm hoping I get blown away by the movie though, just saying that I don't see anything to praise with the trailer.

Absolutely outstanding. Once again, DC redefines itself in the best way yet. By retreading old ground. It basically a Batman Begins reboot. Even that shot of him repelling up between the stairs is almost an exact reverse shot of him jumping down thru the bats in Batman Begins. It looks good as Nolan and Se7en are major influences, but it's uninspired too. Obviously this is your type of superhero movie. Fair enough. But don't pretend it's breaking ground here. After all, it's still about a guy dressed in a silly Batsuit. I'd say DC is more redefining itself with The Suicide Squad. Now that looks fantastic!

Still not exactly sure how to feel about the choice of actors for the lead, but this intrigued me...it wasn't bad.

I'm calling it right now: Suicide Squad 2 will be the most well-received DCEU movie of the bunch... and that's despite it looking like the most colorful and campy movie of them all.

I pretty much feel the same way I felt when seeing the trailer for Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man after the Raimi films. I'm left with one sentiment:
"Why?"

Loved it. Darker, more foreboding and interesting takes on the characters. Particularly Riddler; who needed it if he was going to be updated for a modern audience. The visuals had the feel of a Fincher movie, which I like.
And I don't mind Robert Pattinson at all. He actually looked kinda cool. A new younger take on the character.
And lets not forget, while Pattinson may be younger (than the Affleck version) he's actually 34, a grown adult. Christian Bale was 31 when he acted in Batman Begins. So Pattinson is actually older. And Pattinson has grown on me in recent years with many bold choices as an actor in movies. See The Lighthouse if you want to see some solid acting by him (and Willem Dafoe).

In other words; Once Again DC goes back to the drawing board to try to fix the colossal mistakes of their recent past. This time by doing the "dark knight" thing again. But it looks like it won't be bad at least.

Bump
I am a little late to the party but come on, this looks outstanding. Love the use of that Nirvana song as well.
Oh and I love how its being played up as a detective story. Looks like Matt Reeves has knocked it out of the park imo.

It looks like yet another overly grounded take on Batman that strips away all of the fantasy/comic book elements, like the Nolan films. Nothing new here that we haven't already seen. I'm sure the acting will be fine and we'll get a decent story, but I just don't see a lot of reason to rush out and see this considering how over-saturated the character has become. Where else can they take this? We've already seen the grounded origin story, we've seen him fight Superman and we've seen him with the Justice League. We've seen young and somewhat older Bruce.
It looks like they are taking things very seriously with the dark detective elements, but in the end it's still a gangly Batman (or Batboy?) with a costume, batmobile and overall world that looks less inspired than what's come before.

This looks more grounded than the Nolan films. The Nolan films didn’t have any supernatural or overtly sci-fi elements, but they still have city destroying stakes, and a Batman who is essentially a ninja. This film looks more inline with the Earth One Batman comics, or the Daredevil Netflix show.

The Earth One comics definitely take the grounded Batman approach to a greater extreme than Nolan’s trilogy.

I believe the guy in the beginning was the Mayor. This is why Gotham needs a new Mayor and Bella Real and Oswald Cobblepot will both run against each other. Carmine Falcone is helping Oswald push for the position and will do as much as he can to make him look good for the media, such as start of a new orphanage foundation ( this is where Dick Grayson comes in much much later). But there’s something bigger at play. Carmine is part of the Elite, working for a cabal. The Court of Owls who are also human traffickers. ( Check the green letter. It has an Owl on it). The previous Mayor was as well. The Riddler wants to expose the Elite and is on a serial killing/jigsaw vigilante spree and wants Batman to figure this out. Catwoman on the other hand wants to stop human trafficking as well. That’s why you are her sneak into that same crime scene to steal whatever the dead Mayor had to connect her to the bigger player but as far as she knows, her main target is Falcone. That's an interesting theory, because in some of the comic interpretations, Martha Wayne was always part of different charities that combated human trafficking. Also, at the end of teaser, the Riddler tells Bruce he's "part of this too." I wonder if that's eluding to the Wayne family in general. Some stories always showed the Wayne family and their wealth in a darker light, and Thomas inherited it from seedy means. The whole rich cabal and court of owls is definitely fits that theory.

Especially whenever their other properties don't do well. "Crap, our new movie failed? Time to make another Batman movie!!"
