Just finished Season 1...I quite enjoyed it. I admit i was always skeptical. Back when it first aired i tuned in to maybe the first 2 episodes and was kind of turned off by the steampunk vibes and how far technology advanced since we last saw the world. I just generally preferred torches and villages to flashlights and skyscrapers. But I found this first season quite enjoyable overall.
*potential spoilers*
I like Korra. She's not Aang, which is a positive since we've already seen a pacifist, unsure of himself Avatar. Korra being more physically attuned and headstrong but less spiritual and patient makes for the same interesting unbalance in character but in reverse. And since there was no time displacement where she was lost for 100 years, its cool to see how teachers have attempted to mold her into what they think the avatar should be. It's doubly cool that some of these teachers are kin to the previous Avatar like Katara and Tenzin. Of all the side characters I liked Bolin the most. He's a normal feeling goofball where the humor seems to come natural. Lin would probably be my second fave mostly because she's a total badass. The rest are fine, but I wasn't a huge fan of the love triangle between Korra, Mako and Asami down the stretch. I completely get that people are fickle, especially with young love, but at some point I just wanted them to make up their mind for more than an episode. Amon was a really cool villain, and his backstory with Tarrlok and the eventual end to both of them was easily the most emotional part of the season.
Overall I quite enjoyed it...and am finding out Im actually glad it feels different than The Last Airbender, where initially I was concerned it was gonna be too different.

I love this show. It had some great villains to be sure. And the action was fantastic. It is a solid follow up to The Last Airbender.

I lost interest early on, but I heard it got way better. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Season 2...potential spoilers...
I liked it. There weren't any emotional beats that could match the Amon stuff from season 1, but overall i found it very entertaining. Bolin is still my fave but Varrick was pretty amazing here as side characters go. He had me rolling. The overall storyline was fine...civil war stuff, spiritual problems stuff, it all linked together. The 2 or 3 episodes we got of Wan, the first Avatar, i didn't think id enjoy as much as i did but i found it pretty great. They make a much bigger deal about the spirits in Korra than they seemed to in Avatar...which is kind of refreshing and has led to a lot more exploration of this worlds history than I thought Id care about. So good on that. I heard this season got mixed reviews because of the animation being under budget or something...and yea its pretty obvious in a good chunk of the middle episodes that the frames arent all there. The flashback Wan stuff did a good job hiding it tho, imo. And I didn't find it as big a distraction as others apparently.
