I just saw the episode where J. Peterman bought a slice of wedding cake from the Thirties or Forties. I was curious about two things:
1. Have people actually bought old food like that?
2. Is there really a position of people who appraise food like that man in the episode?

I wondered the same thing when I saw that episode years ago. I can't even imagine trying to eat anything that old. I know there are many "old food experts" but I have no idea if or how the food could be appraised.

I was referring to greedy Elaine. I don’t think she knew how old it was. All she saw was a slice of cake and went for it.

I doubt it. And it certainly would need to remain frozen, not kept in a mini fridge! But it’s still a great episode.
