Yeah the final series was disappointing: abrupt character changes, people teleporting all over the kingdoms, dragons that are inconsistently powerful and an ending that was just a bit too neat.
Not saying I could have written any better, mind!

I think GOT S8 should've had more episodes or the show should've gotten another season.
I don't mind the conclusion but I think that final two, but especially the last season were incredibly rushed.

Apparently HBO and George R.R Martin wanted 10 seasons, but the creators of the show did not want to do that I agree season 7 and 8 where rushed, it would have been better if the show had gotten 10 seasons with 10 episodes in every season, and in stead of ending it on 73 episodes it should have ended on 100 episodes.

I know HBO likes to give their show runners creative freedom, but I'm curious what would have happened with the show had HBO/GRRM vetoed D&D on ending it when they did...?

What would you have liked to have seen more of? I think the shift in Dany was way too sudden to be believable. More episodes of character development would've suffice. I also think they should've had a season devoted entirely to the threat of White Walkers once they crossed the wall and then probably another season to deal with the aftermath and Cersei.

HBO should disavow S8 and remake it.

HBO should disavow S8 and remake it. That bad for you, huh? That's too bad. I can relate as there's been shows/movies I loved only to have them fizzle out at the end (or in sequels). It can ruin it for the audience. Do you think you'll give House of the Dragon a chance? Or are you done with GRRM's world?

I didn't start GOT until it was in S7. A glitch in my satellite dvr software gave me free access to HBO and Showtime tv series through one particular menu, I found the glitch by accident. My wife was out of town on business and I binged 7 seasons of GOT in 2 weeks. She came back and watched it together. Each season I made a spoiler free family tree chart for the wife and kid (college age kid) so they could keep track of who was who. They fixed the glitch and we subbed to HBO for a month to watch the final season.

I watched week-to-week, and while I read the books too, it was still thrilling to watch it.

If you navigated directly to the show it would say you need a subscription but if you watched a free episode, and usually there is a preview or making of or something that is free, then that would allow you to access all the other episodes and download them to watch for free. Eventually they fixed it so you couldn't access any of the episodes unless you had a subscription to that channel.

I was expecting at least an intelligent ending but we didn't even get that.

I'm a Thrones book junkie, Dance got his book ending. I enjoy S7 and S8, wishing that Dany and Cersei especially had more episodes to show their descents into madness. I also understand that it had to be wrapped up. Production costs, including writing, cgi and cast salary was approaching a major film for each episode. Battle of Winterfell? I tell friends to give it time. Watch the later seasons when you are ready to appreciate them. Some good and fun things, and not funny things!

End show. There is no saving any of the last two seasons. Most of it is contrived junk for emotional effect only. I expected at least the ending to make sense since it is GRRM's but even that is an insult. I lost all respect for the author and I don't mean D&D.
