One of the first things I read was that it will air on The CW, so I immediately assumed they would apply the high school drama formula to a concept completely unrelated to it, turning the characters into teens who look and behave like people in their 20s. Then I read that the characters will actually be people in their 20s and that the story won't revolve around problems that cause more angst than anything. I was a little relieved. However, I'm still not sold on the idea. The original was a parody of action-oriented cartoons (mainly anime), so I can't imagine translating that into live-action, no matter the amount of CGI they use. Also, making the characters adults could still be an excuse to sexualize them instead of a true narrative choice.
By the way, the folks behind this are Diablo Cody and Greg Berlanti.

And who was asking for this? This sounds like a terrible idea. Knowing the CW they’ll totally get the characters wrong and unrecognizable. Every CW show is so predictable now same with their decisions. The girls will be diverse. Blossom will be white, Bubbles will be Latina and Buttercup will be black. And at least one of them will be LGBT!!! The fact that I can even tell you that this is what’ll happen just shows how PREDICTABLE the CW is. Come back to me when production starts and I’ll be the one to say “I TOLD YOU SO”!!!!

I was just making a fact. I don’t care either if they make them that way. The problem is it’s become predictable. I don’t even watch CW, but seriously look at the previews for Riverdale and Nancy Drew and tell me that the shows aren’t the same thing.

Why not an amimated movie? People love nostalgia. People are only going to hate-watch this and make fun of it.

Diversity is fine, but don’t screw up the original characters. The fact that you think changing their races will screw them up is part of the problem. Why is it so hard just to make new characters? Why would we watch a show called POWERPUFF GIRLS without the Powerpuff Girls?

I am not sure what I think about them going in a darker direction 'cause it might alienate a lot of the fanbase but I will give it a chance and it is funny to see two former 'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD' actresses (one of which was also the voice of SpiderGwen/ Ghost Spider) in the leading roles. Hopefully it turns out to be better than many people are expecting 'cause there are fans that have wanted a live action Powerpuff Girls but I'm not sure if this is the version they want.

Long time no see. It's good to see you. I'm a huge Dove Cameron fan so this news has me pretty excited.

Ugh! Berlanti is a talentless hack. There was a time he was a good showrunner but that time has come and gone. He does nothing but ruin shows these days.

I wasn't sure who you were at first 'cause of your new profile name but it is good to see you again too and I hope everything has been going well for you this year. I am not very familiar with Dove Cameron's roles but I thought she was good in 'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD' and I know a lot of fans have been wanting to see her play SpiderGwen in live action since she played her voice before and we are still yet to hear anything more about SpiderGwen/ Ghost Spider other than I heard there are talks of a movie but it is good to see Dove gets a chance to play a superhero in live action with this and I think this could turn out to be better than some people expect. By the way, I remember you were a fan of Jewel and had her as your avatar and did you know she released a Deluxe Edition of her debut album recently with a lot of unreleased songs, demos and B-sides? She is working on a new studio album for later this year which will be her first since 'Picking Up the Pieces' in 2015 and I am really looking forward to it.
