A new report is saying Britons are drinking less, and surprisingly the 16-24 year old bracket are the least likely to have had a drink in the past week. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-39785742 I know I'm definitely drinking less, still drink most weekends, but practically never during the week any more. Last time I drank during the week it was because I had my toe nail removed so I downed two bottles of wine to numb the pain.

But that was all I had in the fridge from Xmas.

Yep. I'll have 1 or 2 or 3 beers out maybe once a month, or 2 margaritas, and rarely drink at home, though I have it available. There was a time I had 2 a night at home. At an event like a wedding, I'd have gotten blitzed. Now I may not even drink.
I won't go over 4 drinks - very conscious of blood-alcohol. I did get wasted with an IMDb member a few years ago (he was treating). He took off in his car, I waited 45 minutes in the parking lot before heading out.

Good to hear, because Britain's alcohol problem was getting pretty serious for a while.
I have not touched a drink in probably 5 years. I don't miss it at all.

Definitely. Gone from drinking without fail every weekend and a few weekdays to once or twice every couple of months.

the mint juleps are flowing today! i have a bartending recipe book that states mint juleps are only to be drank on 'Derby Day' so does that mean if anybody requests one at the bar the other 364 days of the year i'm to state it's not derby day??

only a derby day??! no way! guess it's pretty popular down there on Derby Day. i was always told it was a 'no-no' for men to mix anything their bourbon, scotch, whiskey and they're not 'real men'. hell with that. to each their own. i'm not a hard liquor drinker - or wine - just beer. ever try a 'Red Raider'? This doesn't sound half bad 1 1/2 oz Bourbon 1/2 oz Triple Sec (orange flavored liquor) 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice Dash Grenadine (cherry juice) old fashioneds have come back into style since 'Madmen' came out on AMC years ago - there's another 'Whiskey Drink' that isn't straight - and while all these dolts look down upon others for putting something else in their 'Whiskey' - you've got the classic Manhatten with bitters and Sweet Vermouth. Scotch - Rusty Nail with 2/3 Scotch and 1/3 Drambuie is pretty popular. i only made one 'Mint Julep' in my life and this guy's friends were busting his stones as if he wasn't drinking a 'manly drink'. then at the end of the night this one cat requested extra 'cranberry' in his 'Cape Codder'
