You usually know what you're in for when the trailer starts with a kid drawing spooky crayon pictures. Sometimes that has worked, but that's usually pretty lame.
And trying to make snap chat or zoom face filters scary seems like a tall order.
I totally get that horror filmmakers are trying to reflect the ways we communicate now and incorporate this stuff into the movies, but it always comes off as hokey to me.
