I've actually watched The Dolly Sisters 1945 Fox musical, and thought of it like just another glitzy musical in Technicolor with some old tunes and a few good and well made production numbers. Not a bad movie in itself but had nearly nothing to do with the real Dolly Sisters. It followed the familiar pattern, unknowns, discovered, falls in love, success, hardships and a tearfull reunion.
In the movie the Sisters is unlucky in gambling, but lucky in love, it was the opposite they were damned lucky at Monte Carlo Casino, and worked of men by the minute, including making the founder of Selfridgre's stores nearly pennyless.
