Whether it’s a movie that follows Henry Cavill’s Superman, or a new version of the character, what would be your preferred concept for a new Superman movie?

While saving the world, Superman arrests notorious war criminal John Corben and dismantles his criminal empire. Severely injuring Corben in the process, Superman has Corben brought before the proper authorities. Impressed with Corben's criminal acumen, Lex Luthor has Corben broken out of maximum security prison, and recruits him in his quest to create the ultimate cyborg assassin. Meanwhile, Lois Lane begins an investigation into LexCorp's attempt to create technologically enhanced humans. Clark Kent declines to investigate alongside Lane knowing he may break journalistic ethics given his rivalry with Lex Luthor.
Eventually, Superman has to face off against the cyborg, who now calls himself Metallo, and his cyborg army. Unfortunately for Superman, Metallo is laced with a Kryptonite power source.

Any decent director Any decent screenwriter I'd suggest that they try and go for a similar fun tone as the first Avengers movie.

I'd be interested to see what Rian Johnson would do with a character like Superman.

There's a lot of focus on Clark's Smallville teenage years, and obviously a lot of focus on his Metropolis Daily Planet years. How about that in between period where he's a budding journalism student. Take a break from Luther and alien threats and have the villain be Conduit - a fellow student and ordinary guy who's always been fucked by Superman's existence and grows to hate him.

I say start building the Super Family. Superman is good when he's being a mentor. So I think they should introduce Supergirl. Make Lex Luthor a part of the supporting cast in that he's behind things, but is never caught. I'd also use Metallo as the main villain, but have Parasite as a minor villain. Have it that a group, led by Corben, is trying to steal a case, but is caught in the act. One of them, Rudy Jones, gets some kind of goo on him and turns into the Parasite. In the battle with Superman, Corben escapes after an explosion hits him and a couple of his surviving men pull him to safety. After he defeats Parasite, Superman goes to the case and finds a teenaged girl inside. When she shows that she has powers, Kal thinks she is Amazonian until she starts speaking Kryptonian. Have her tell him about Krypton while "Stranger in a strange land" stuff goes on.
Throughout the movie you find out Lex was the one that hired Corben and turns him into Metallo. Between teaching Kara about Earth, her powers and trying to be human, I'd do a kind of "Age of Ultron" thing with Metallo upgrading into his final form. By the end, she's officially Supergirl. I wouldn't have them find out that Lex was behind Metallo, but Kal's suspicious about it. Post credit's scene would be Lex talking to a robotic voice in front of a tank with, maybe, the actor that played teen Clark in it. Doesn't have to be because he'd look a little different with Lex's DNA in him.

I would personally give Superman one more solo film before starting to expand into Supergirl and whatnot, but having Superman train Kara would give him something more to do besides saving the world and his usual business. Also, I thought of Age of Ultron too when I was thinking of Superman fighting a robot army for the climax.

You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't with Superman. People rejected Ruturns because they didn't want another Reeves movie. MoS went too dark. There's only one guy who I think could pull off a new Superman movie and that's Waititi. I could see a movie with Ragnarok's tone, style, color and humor working.

The thing about having Kara there is that he has a chance to give his views on Earth to another alien. It'd be a better version of what they tried to do in Justice League with the cellphone interview. It could also correct what they tried to do with Jonathan Kent and if they should help people. I also think that she should be there in uniform for the end fight, but Superman should be the one that ultimately wins the day.

A followup to Man of Steel called Man of Tomorrow.
Intergang and the Eradicator will be the physical villains. Lex Luthor will be present fanning the flames of division against Superman via his news company Galaxy Communications and its controversial if popular television host Glorious Godfrey.
The opening scene will be Superman rescuing John Henry Irons at STAR Labs from a megalomanic coworker named Hank Henshaw. Irons will suit up as Steel later in the story.
Lois Lane and Clark Kent will be investigating Lex Luthor's ties with Intergang boss Bruno Mannheim, which prompts an assassination attempt by Intergang member Atomic Skull. Superman rescuing Lois Lane earns the support of her estranged father General Sam Lane.
Seeking a determent against Superman, Luthor and Mannheim hire Hank Henshaw to steal a dormant Eradicator from the scout ship's crash site. The being is more powerful than anticipated and actually merges its body with Hank Henshaw.
Superman and Steel team up to combat the composite Eradicator and Hank Henshaw in Metropolis where the latter two use the Eradicator's molecular manipulation to transform the scout ship into a massive Kryptonian mecha. Superman and Steel receive military support from General Lane. Once the mecha is destroyed, both Mannheim and Luthor are arrested when betrayed by Mercy Graves. Lena Luthor assumes control of LexCorp with Graves as her assistant.
The Daily Planet buys Galaxy Communications and Glorious Godfrey is fired. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen writes a piece titled 'Why the World Needs Superman'.
Postcredits scene: Lex Luthor is broken out of prison by Deathstroke and is offered membership by Glorious Godfrey into what he calls a 'Legion of Doom' in service of his master (wink wink).

I guess that since I’m the one who made this topic, I’ll throw my two cents in. My idea for a new Superman movie would be to make a movie set in the DCEU, but it wouldn’t be a movie that’s meant to play into any larger narrative. It would just be a simple story about where Superman is in the world post-JL. The movie would be noticeably more lighthearted than MoS, and it wouldn’t have any major world ending conflict. The villain would probably be either Metallo or Parasite, and maybe Lex Luthor would also factor into the story in someway. Also, the movie wouldn’t necessarily end with any sequel hooks. It would be a film that stands on its own, and if it were to be Henry Cavill’s last time playing Superman, it would be an acceptable send-off.

Also Superman needs the red underwear. It ties the suit together and helps create the tone that these kinds of movies should be going for.

Set it in the near future with a veteran Supes and a Metropolis where The Daily Planet is closed so you won't need to feature Lois or Perry. Make Braniac the villain and make the story about his collection of miniature cities, including the one from Krypton. The plot revolves around him adding Metropolis to his collection. They can modernize it by saying they're imprisoned in an alternate dimension or something instead of being miniature. They can also introduce Supergirl via the preserved Krypton city.

I really want to see a movie about Superman that is rooted in the silver-age tradition of the character.
I think we should treat Superman like Black Panther in Civil War. Reintroduce him to the world in a boldly audacious story arc involving more obscure DC characters.
In my opinion, a Legion of Super-Heroes film would be a perfect vehicle to reintroduce the Man of Tomorrow.
It's the 31st Century...
A vast peacekeeping armada of superheroes has been formed to protect the galaxy from all manner of threats.
The Legion of Super-heroes is made up of super-powered beings from all over the galaxy. And, they all revere the greatest superhero who ever lived - Kal-El of Krypton. They long for the days of "two-fisted" super-heroics that aren't tightly controlled by the Science Police and the United Planets.
In this timeline, Superman disappears near the end of the 22nth century without a trace attempting to thwart Brainiac's maniacal scheme to "bottle" the Milkyway galaxy and sell it to the highest extra-dimensional bidder. Superman is seemingly killed in the epic confrontation.
In the 31st Century, the Legion mourns the loss of Superman. A planet-wide museum is erected in his memory. And while most are content to consider the Man of Tomorrow forever lost, one Legionnaire believes he has the answer to the mystery of whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow.
Querl Dox, the descendant of the original Brainiac, and Leader of the Legion's combat team, sends his group, Lightning Lad, Colossal Boy, Triplicate Girl, Kid Quantum and the Phantom Girl, on a misguided quest to vindicate his ancestor and prove that Superman was no hero at all.

Keep Cavill but also Costner. First scene is them drinking beer on the farm. Both never died. Superman has a different costume. Luthor is different if he's in it. Keep Eisenberg but he's Jimmy Olsen. No explanations, just roll with it. Final scene is Clark winking at the audience.

An established Superman, no origin baggage.
Superman has the Christoper Reeve-styled suit, with the red underpants.
Classic Lois and Jimmy.
Takes on Metallo and/or Parasite.
Lex optional.
