Personally, while I already realized that would be the case as soon as Jeffrey Wright was cast as Commissioner Gordon, I was still pretty happy when that was officially confirmed at Fandome last week. I just kind of wish the DCEU would commit to not using Batman or his rogue’s gallery moving forward.

I think the film kind of defeats the purpose of a shared universe, but I'm fine with it. I can understand that Matt Reeves may not share the same sensibilities as Zack Snyder, but Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons worked well together as Bruce and Alfred. I would like to see that continue for a few more films. However, I myself would not like to be saddled with using Jared Leto's Joker should I want to use the character in a DCEU Batman film.

It is what it is. The Reeves movie looks good so far. But, if it was up to me, I’d just recast Affleck and move forward. Perhaps in an alternate universe we’d be anticipating a new film starring Karl Urban that’s set in the main DCEU continuity.

It's just kind of a mess. I wish they could make a true shared universe work.

I feel pretty done with shared universes (except for the Sonyverse. Go see Morbius in cinemas 2021 TODAY!) so I’m fine with it. After the success of Joker I can see them making villain films in that universe anyway

The Snyderverse has basically failed so it's expected. The films have been basically standalone since Aquaman.
