Uh no, the prices are high because so many people pay them. Because they are as ignorant of economics as you are they incorrectly blame the few who do not pay high prices for those high prices. In reality there is only one way to bring prices down, do not pay them (unless they come down). "Uh no, the prices are high because so many people pay them." That's not how it works jughead. I know you an infantile understanding of economics ("The higher the demand, the higher higher the price") but it is more complicated than that. Medical costs are what you would call an "inelastic demand", even the price goes up, the demand stays about the same, because well people don't wanna die. Why do you think medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy in this country? "In reality there is only one way to bring prices down, do not pay them (unless they come down)." Then why does US still pay the highest in the world for medical care despite millions of people that are uninsured in this country? Buying medical insurance/care is not the same as buying a soda, the "price/demand" model doesn't work here. If it were true, the US wouldn't be paying the most in the world for subpar healthcare. Are you this stupid or just a liar? If you are determined to write doctors a blank check for whatever you don't understand, which is everything, then the prices will be high. Thank you for proving you are the cause.

How do you NOT PAY for your hospital bill after a car accident or a heart lung transplant that you require and will die without? Stopping bleeding and setting broken bones are not the main contributors to high health care costs. If I would not take the risk of a heart lung transplant it would be very easy not to pay. That sort of work is the reason costs are so high. So you would accept dying when you didn't have to? Like my friend who now has a wife baby and another one on the way after his heart/lung transplant?

You are just taking my comment to you about religion and flipping it around, it's the typical conservative retort of, "I know you are but what am I." Do you even have examples of people 'doing wrong in the name of science?' Would you believe it if I did? I believe things that are verifiable. The important part wasn't whether there are examples, but if you had examples, and it seems you don't. It's an example of speaking out of turn, posting things for sake of argument or to be disagreeable with no idea of whether they are true; doing that you lose credibility.

How's this for a deal, you grant all the people who claim to be healed by faith actually were, and I'll grant all the people who claim to be healed by science actually were? Please do not get me wrong. I know very well that science can work wonders. My point is just that some people are taken in by whatever parading as religion or science. I said on Reddit that faith in science was just as bad as faith in religion. The reactions was "Oh no, no, n o o o o o it isn't. It is "confidence" in science anyway, not "faith." They are of course plain wrong. People are duped more by science than by religion.

I don't need faith for science because our body of knowledge was built one step at a time and challenged at every step. I have been learning since I was a child. I went to college and studied microorganisms. My botany lab exam was a room with 100 microscopes each with a slide, they handed us a blank sheet of paper and said identify as many as possible. We didn't need to make up answers because we had been studying cellular biology, botany, zoology, and even if we didn't know the exact species we could narrow it down to a family or whatever. We went to a nearby stream and roped off a series of 1 meter squares leading away and had to identify EVERY living thing within that square. Then we shared our results and had to draw conclusions about the kind of plants and animals that live within proximity to water. I wrote papers on mitochondrial DNA as a way to confirm lineage long before CSI was a tv show. I've seen DNA first hand and replicated it. I've used a spectrometer to identify different materials. I've looked at Saturn through a telescope. (which by the way is one of the most awe inspiring moments of my life) The phrase "faith in science" is misplaced. "Duped by science" ... all you have to do to disprove science is put the work in and disprove it.

You still missed the point. reading skills are conspicuously absent here. Despite your lack of good sense, I think I know what you mean. My point is that everyone will get old and die. In the last decades generally people have been spending inordinate amounts of money believing it will extend their lives when it will not. There may be some uncertainty and perhaps it does for a few weeks or whatever. It is very sad and pathetic. I will do everything reasonable to live as long as possible. I happen to be very reasonable and logical, you are not.

Just take the case of my friend who, after a life of suffering with cystic fibrosis, had a heart lung transplant in his late 40's then went on to marry and have two children (through IVF or similar) which he and his wife are now enjoying whist having a reasonably normal life. You are an idiot! Why do you think having medical intervention is 'unreasonable'? I can't believe your stupidity!

Guess who said this, just recently? That's because my real life debate friends do not make any such errors. Elsewhere I did mention that I have had to educate people on this board (not real life) about what are the correct uses of the rules. Since you still don't know how to use them I will probably have to repeat.

It appeared very real and had no sudden scene changes. I would have believed in those anyway, without a video. I have never seen a video of a heart transplant that is believable. I am unfortunate, not stupid. A heart transplant is something I would have to see to believe. How fortunate you are to have seen one. Or did you actually see anything? I'm guessing no here. There is a certified real doctor in my close family, but the hospital where he works does not do heart transplants.

Are you seriously saying that organ transplants are not real? How are you proposing that my friend who was in hospital at death's door unable to breathe, suddenly got well enough to find a wife and have two kids, go back to work and live an almost normal life? How do you explain the huge scar, his fiance visiting him intensive care and one of the nations top doctors lying about what he had done? ...and guess what? They didn't let the guy's best friend's mother in law into the operating room! You are clinically insane. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL You have really outdone the stupid this time!
