As a Doc Martens punk, I adore much of the d.i.y. fashion punk ushered in, inventive combinations, and cool gear like colourful hair and clothing, attractive accoutrements (a la bows & pins), modified miniskirts, stripey socks, safety pins and more ...
But the one thing I never liked was the overdone combinations. Nowadays, you see this a lot, and hippies do it too. For example, when women wear dresses over dungarees, or skirts over chunky trousers, I just think it looks a bit naff.

This is one trend that Lady Gaga started that I loathe: ![]()

But you defended platform shoes and I like them too, especially some of those worn by Lady Gaga in recent years. Goth girls I knew when I was young loved wearing thick black platforms beneth their ripped stockings, or elevated, knee-high black boots, with miniature drinking flasks tucked inside their garters with vodka for when the bars closed. I thought it looked great.

I'm gathering women had to stand for an entire evening's engagement. They certainly couldn't sit down. I find history of all sorts to be rather fascinating, regardless of what it's about. Even if it's something that may seem "irrelevant," chances are that it still had an impact on other areas of the progression of history.

I'm glad you appreciate that. To be fair, I was thinking of something more along this line:

Nice. I like her style, retro, like Bettie Page being photographed by Russ Meyer.

Just a FAD ? --- hope springs eternal ! and they cost more than the wearable ones ! I LOOOOOVE "distressed" jeans. I also like very thin jeans and not the very heavy and thick jeans. I've watched a bunch of YouTube channels on how to distress my own jeans as well. It's not as easy as you'd think. The ones in the big picture on the right are way too much. But on the left, I think those a LOT. There's actually a key, though, to make the cuts in the right places (not too many of them) and more importantly, to make the white threading in the proper places, and also to learn how to make the "cat whiskers" properly and where to put them based on your own body to look legit. Thumbs up and lots of love.

The whole dressing like you’re mentally ill look... One otherwise harmless prank, followed by a public indecency charge.

Why were people in the 1970s wearing clothing that looked like their couches? " Who Shot The Couch?" LOL!
