What are the differences in the roles of each of these in a typical mid-budget or large-budget film? What does each one do?

I'm assuming co-producer and associate producer are essentially the same thing. Executive producer I'm pretty sure is the head producer. Dunno what a "line producer" is, never heard that one.

producer --can be anything from the one who comes up with the idea to getting the money, to picking the cast or director or writer co-producer --shares duties with producer associate producer --someone who does less than the co-producer executive producer --could be a studio or financier rep, or just someone who wanted their name in the credits as reward for something line producer --manages the actual production--oversees all the crew, makes sure they stay on budget
