Please just leave the first two movies alone. He needs more money for drinking. The perfect ending to The Godfather & The Godfather Part II was... wait for it... The Godfather Part II.

I completely forgot there is a version presented in chronological order, i.e all the scenes with Young Vito are shown first.

The TV version of Godfather III has a 10-15 minute introduction that has clips from the first two films played while you see Michael sitting alone on a bench from Godfather II.

Coppola used the funds from that to help finance Apocalypse Now.

The movie has its flaws, but I think it has enough qualities to say it's at least good. Maltin Movie Guide Review: The Godfather Part III (1990) - 3 out of 4 stars
"Only a filmmaker like Coppola (teamed with writer Mario Puzo) could extend his history-making Mafioso saga and make it work so well. Absorbing story of Pacino's attempt to remove himself from the world of crime, and how fate and circumstance draw him back in, with his trigger-happy nephew (Garcia) and the rest of his family in tow. Longish, but masterfully told, with one almost-fatal flaw: the casting of Coppola's daughter Sofia (an amateur) in the pivotal role of Pacino's daughter." III had only two flaws
1. Sofia. Most of the audience at the showing I went to was laughing at the big scene. A scene of tragedy but all i can still hear is "Dad?" 2. It wasn't as good as the first two.
I suppose it might have went down better if they hadn't waited so long to make it.

Some people find the whole story/plot with the Vatican and Immobillare kind of convoluted.

What would IV have been like? Rumors abounded that IV was on the table until Mario Puzo died.

I think Coppola once said in an audio commentary that it would have had to do with Vincent and drug cartels.

I had thought I read that it would take place between the end of the flashbacks in II and the beginning of I. Taking Vito from local gang leader to the top of The Syndicate. The Corleone-Roth alliance, Luca Brasi etc. Leonardo DiCaprio was to be the 3rd Vito Corleone. I could be wrong

I don't think there is any saving The Godfather: Part III. It was dreadful.
That stupid helicopter with a machine gun scene belongs in a Robocop movie, not a Godfather movie. ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/tek3suwt5/laugh.gif) Wasn't that helicopter moment kind of duplicated in Star Trek Into Darkness?

It also has all the scenes that were cut inserted where they should be chronologically. I like that version.

![](https://thedigitalbits.com/media/k2/items/cache/34113e3f628205700ec9cc550290558b_XL.jpg) I don't know if putting Sofia Coppola on the cover is the wisest move, but oh well. The only special feature known for this Blu-ray release at the moment is an introduction from Francis Ford Coppola.
The run time is also 5 minutes shorter than the theatrical cut of Godfather III:
