That sounds pretty interesting. Are we getting any news on the uncut footage for Part VII?

I was just on the Shout! website for some updates on new bonus material, and for Part 2 there will be an interview with Amy Steel, plus an audio commentary that will include Amy.

Also interesting, and welcoming to see the involvement of Kirsten Baker on the Part 2 cast commentary along with Harry Crosby and Steve Miner’s bonus disc interviews. Seeing Amy Steel highlight the extras of Part 2, makes me wonder why she wasn’t involved with the April Fool’s Day bluray release.

Ridiculous how the MPAA did their own slashing, as though horror movies were to blame for the problems in society. We know now that isn't the case and these films, while mean-spirited, had most of the raison d'être excised and they aren't half as graphic as what we see today.

On tape, any remastered footage will still look fuzzy, as happened with the reinstated footage of My Bloody Valentine, which is perhaps the better of the 2 out of FT13th Part 2 and MBV from the same year.

They actually managed to further improve on the MBV footage in the Scream Factory Blu-ray. This is an example they posted.

We know now that isn't the case and these films, while mean-spirited, had most of the raison d'être excised and they aren't half as graphic as what we see today. Yeah it truly was ridiculous. It's been said that the murder of John Lennon in 1980 helped delcare the war against violence in films, so the MPAA dutifully did their cracking down. And of course it was the slasher movies that got the brunt of the "trim the gore or your movie gets an X rating" mandate. In point of fact it was actually the book The Catcher In The Rye that influenced Mark David Chapman to kill Lennon, it had nothing to do with watching violent movies. But at least some of those slasher movies from the early 80s have been getting their missing gore scenes restored on DVD/blu-ray releases, and this has been happening for the past dozen years or so. My Bloody Valentine and The Burning are two significant ones that come to mind, and now we have Friday The 13th Part 2 getting its proper due.

Yet some seemed to escape unscathed like The Prowler and Dead & Buried, which took the wrath of censors outside the US. It is typical establishment hypocrisy and fear of public backlash for not protecting the children, when these films aren’t made for kids to begin with.

The question with regards to the Part VII footage is if the original print still exists and not just a fussy VHS copy. If they still have the original in decent condition there's a chance that you could see a real original cut of the movie at some point. Though the studio really doesn't seem to consider it a priority at all, so just the rough versions of those scenes is all we are likely to get.
I imagine the same is true for this newly discovered missing footage from part II. They'll likely present that as deleted scenes or maybe like the Part VII extended/side-by-side with commentary approach, but that VHS can't possibly look good enough to cut it into the movie, so these deleted scenes, or more likely deleted shots, are probably all we all likely to get.
