I can't figure out the rules for posting images. Sometimes I can and sometimes not. It doesn't help that Wikipedia and google both hide the image name (ie .jpg). This one is a simple .jpg file so I thought it would post, but no. www.milesago.com/Festivals/Images/mulwalaad.jpg

my internet dropped out mid experimenting .... No, you did it correctly, but for whatever reason, ProBoards no longer allows images to be hotlinked from plain old http websites.

Apparently they make an exception for cat photographs? Not quite. That server is set up to allow a secure connection so you can receive the same image whether you use HTTP or HTTPS. The image Wombat's server is hosted on does not allow a secure connection at all, so it's HTTP or nothing, essentially.

The Australian government is currently playing fast and loose with copyright rules and leaning on ISPs to enforce what the US (through the latest free trade agreement) tells them to do. The government recently closed down youtube to MP3 download sites through the ISPs. Time to get a VPN.

It has to do with the site hosting the image you want to post. How to phrase it... have you ever been in the situation where you needed to plug something in, and maybe you're travelling and the sockets are weird or it seems like the plug should fit into something but it just doesn't? Same deal here. Their site is just not set up to be compatible with the modern day, even though it seems close. It has nothing to do with your ISP. HTTPS is becoming the new normal because it provides an extra layer of security and HTTP is being phased out as an antiquity. This is the point where you witness the results. The site that hosts the image is getting phased out because it is not up to date. I would recommend just saving the image and reuploading it to a site like Imgur.

That was going to be my next question. In the deep past I would post my own images onto imdb using a host to remain anonymous but the service went gaga. I will try imgur. Which reminds me, before the politics board started in 2007 posters on the soapbox would swap pics. We had a facebook page devoted to showing pics of ourselves. We once had a talent quest with posters posting photos, paintings, songs. Good days.

Not if the purpose is to let the cat sit where she can look out the window without damaging the blinds while they still function as blinds ! It still blocks the light and the nosy neighbors don't have a major view into the house.

But, if it was my house and my cats, I can almost guarantee that the location for the hole would not be at all modest.
