Nine? I had only seen three. Three seems doable - - nine, not so much.
I don't think football can get away with mismatched numbers of games in the way that baseball could.
There is a fairly easy way to make that particular game fixed but I don't want it because it would mean that the Steelers have their bye in week four. I don't think they want to set a precedent with this because it will be very hard to match other teams up down the road.

Three players, five members of the coaching staff. As it stands, the NFL wants and intends to play the game as scheduled but could move it to Monday night.

Colleges have had situations of 10+ players out and they've still played games. With all of the testing they are doing, they should be able to tell between now and Saturday if it's going to be three players or more. If it's just three, the 49ers had more injuries than that two weeks ago. Keep it moving.

Whatβs interesting isnβt the simple fact that three Titans are out but that theyβve had to close their facilities until Saturday. That means they wonβt be able to practice until then; and the Saturday is usually just a walkthrough. Itβs a pretty big competitive advantage in favor of Pittsburgh. Moving the game to Monday at least allows the Titans to get one more real practice in.

Titans-Steelers has been postponed, Monday is still an option.
So it begins...

At first I was quite nonplussed about the idea of a Tuesday game, but a Tuesday-to-Sunday game has an extra day off than a Sunday-to-Thursday game does. Steelers next game would be at home and against Philly (vs, say, on the road versus a west coast AFC team), so I can live with that.

I didnβt get why they shut down the Titans practice facility all week - that pretty much forces the game to be played Monday or Tuesday, because otherwise the Titans wouldnβt be able to practice.

Yeah, it's sort of been proven that surfaces aren't a major worry when it comes to getting COVID. Blast it with disinfectant and get back at it.

Belichick when asked about this week's game against Mahomes and the Chiefs: "We're onto Denver." Okay I made that up. I hope there was a film crew from Kraft Productions in Baltimore last night.

Steelers-Titans officially postponed to later in the season.
Methinks it wonβt be the last.

I'd have given it to Butker just for the Chargers game alone.

Putting all teams in hotels for the rest of the season is being discussed. I think people are panicking, it was expected that some people would test positive for the virus, so why is everyone acting like the sky is falling?

Putting all teams in hotels for the rest of the season is being discussed. I think people are panicking, it was expected that some people would test positive for the virus, so why is everyone acting like the sky is falling? It was expected, in fact inevitable - yet the league had no real plan for handling it. Normal travel, fans in some stadiums and not in others, coaches arbitrarily told to wear masks on the sidelines. It was as if they were simply hoping nothing would happen, and now that it is, they're scrambling to adjust. The NFL is not set up to accommodate postponed games. The season is now in trouble that they could have avoided if they'd established better protocols and contingencies from the start. By which I mean playing in bubbles, extra bye weeks etc. It was very silly of them to simply run it essentially as normal from the start and only begin to talk about making changes in week 4 when cases (inevitably) have crop up in multiple places. The AJ Terrell case was one thing. He tested positive at the beginning of the week and there was plenty of time to put him in quarantine and test the entire roster multiple times over the course of the week to be sure that nobody else was infected. Now we have cases appearing one day before gameday. There's simply not enough opportunity to ensure that the rosters and staff on those teams are cleared in time to play a game considering the incubation period and delays with results. It's not viable nor responsible to simply play games as though one player has the sniffles and everyone else is totally fine. Infected yet initially asymptomatic players are practicing with their teammates all week, interacting with staff, and in close quarters with others on airplanes while travelling. By playing games as normal, they risk spreading the infection further, not only across their own roster but the opposing team too.
