Didn't Shelly Duval lose it and became homeless for a while?

Klaus Kinski is kind of the poster child for this.

Didn't Shelly Duval lose it and became homeless for a while? Shelly has had some mental health problems, but I can't recall reading that she was ever homeless. You might be thinking of Margot Kidder. Love both women, especially Shelly.

Didn't Lawrence Tierney steal a knife from the set of "Seinfeld" for some reason?

Do suicides count? If so the list would be a mile long.

Didn't Lawrence Tierney steal a knife from the set of "Seinfeld" for some reason? Yes, I've read that. I also read a story about suspicions surrounding a girlfriend who supposedly threw herself out of his window and died. Some say she had a little "help" going out the window.

Oh yeah, I do vaguely remember hearing about Kidder being homeless, I might be thinking of her. I think mental illness has got to be about the worst thing. With the risk of sounding callous, mental illness can often be attributed to ones own behavior and it is by and large for many, a consequence of living a wild life. I'd say very more than likely, and while Duvall denied this on that Dr. Phil episode, being a coke head will eventually frazzle ones brain. Kidder I believe, apparently went down this same track too.
Heck, I read a source once, I think from Melissa Sue Anderson, that the happy powder often did the rounds on the set of LHOTP.

I think there may be some truth to that. Some people refer to substance abuse as self-medicating. I don't know. All I know is I try very hard not to judge people because I don't want to be judged in return. (Of course, I have my pet peeves like Roman Polanski and Aileen Wournos, or rather those who see fit to judge these two people) We are all in the same boat.

Oh, I agree entirely and whatever choice they make is theirs to own. It may not be wise decisions, but where mental illness is concerned, this can often be attributed to a wrongheaded and complicating approach to it. Those that are mentally ill due to their own doing can put a scourge on those "genuine" cases that are mentally ill born out of pathology. It's like the rape and racist catch calls and the terms get misused and misappropriated.
With Wuronos and Polanski, that is more born out of the wrong-headedness of those doing the judging.
