Official running time is two hours and thirty minutes. Not surprised. This movie looks massive. I was actually expecting it to be closer to the 3 hr mark.

i will say, it better be better than Dune 1984. Because the director of that was only 38. And this director is technically senior citizen age right now, or he will be in about 6 months.
There is a small chance that it will not be as good as dune 1984. But i could be wrong.

It certainly might be, it looks extremely Marvelized and the cast is very Gen-Z. I have serious doubts about this one even though I consider Villeneuve a first rate director.

As far as I can tell, the youngest members of the cast are Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, both of whom are much older than their characters are supposed to be.

Not age per se but more like a clear targeted appeal to that demographic. There are alot of MCU, DC, and Star Wars actors that I have a hard time viewing as being outside of their blockbuster roles, and it'll be hard to overlook it during 'Dune' (for me personally). I think Chalamet is a tremendously lousy actor and have been nervous about him being the leading man since it was announced. The second Dune trailer was better but I can't say either of them have tickled me in a good way, it feels very teeny-bopper, and most Dune fans I have talked to in the real world outside internet forums have agreed with me.

You mean a sense of humour. Sure, that "humor" and the overall vibes I get from the trailer is hard to take seriously.

You have to keep in mind that Dune is a pretty risky property to gamble on in this day and age. Getting recognizable talent that young people are familiar with is the best way of ensuring that the movie has wide appeal.

Just the full presentation, I dont like anything about it. Timmy's hoarse voice narration in the beginning, "what's in the box" feels as cringily delivered as Pitt's version in Se7en, could be bad editing but Timmy's scream made me chuckle, I don't like the costumes, the duel between him and Brolin (?) looks SUPER artificial as does ALOT of the action. I think the spectacle looks enticing (especially in trailer 2) but really honestly alot of it comes back to Timmy for me: I can't view him as anything other than the disgruntled brat he is. That and there's this glossy feel to it, cinematography looks good but Deakins will still be a missed presence. I'm not knocking on anyone's enjoyment of MCU but no, I've tried and I can't. I hate the feeling of "missing out" so I've tried the MCU bandwagon, it's simply not for me. Artificial, corporatized and not trying to be mean, but it feels like a pandering to the very lowest common denominator. There is absolutely nothing of lasting value in those movies.

I totally get it from the business perspective, that part 2 is dependent on part 1's success and this will help with those BO numbers. But ugh, it's sad we're even at this point.

Trust me I absolutely regret asking you that question now. These "lowest common denominators" that you wanted to be a part of and not miss out on what they were enjoying. If the Marvel films were aimed at idiots what does it make the idiot that needs that kind of Marvel wash on dunce effect to feel relevant for once in its pitiful life by joining in? Vile creature. And also everything is corporatized people don't make films to be nice, they want your money. And yeah you were mean but you're just lucky I can be meaner.

I've been through your posting history and it's full of comic book movie talk which makes you a "lowest common denominator" if we go by your stupidity. My condolences. What response were you expecting from me? I'm not nice to people that mock other people's intelligence because of what they like.

Don’t you have better things to do, like masturbating to the 35th mcu flick?
