Last year, the D-Backs looked like geniuses for trading Goldschmidt for Luke Weaver and Carson Kelly. Goldschmidt had his worst year since his rookie year (.260/.346/.476 - .821, 34 HR and 97 RBI, still pretty solid) and seemed to look, I dunno, a step slower all around, while Weaver looked terrific in 12 starts and Carson Kelly had a similar slash line to Goldschmidt while providing strong defense behind the plate. The needle was pointed up for the D-Backs and they were expected to be a team on the rise this year. This year, Kelly has a .504 OPS in 28 games, and Weaver is 1-6, 7.12, 1.664, encapsulating what is wrong with the entire Arizona team - underperformance from just about everyone they expected to take a step forward this year. Meanwhile, Goldschmidt is slashing .330/. 461/.500 (.961, 162 OPS+) in 35 games for the Cards. His HR numbers are a bit down but we've seen him go on tears before where he'll swat a half a dozen long balls over the course of a week. Once again, the Cardinals can do no wrong.

Matt Olson with a 2 run blast to put the A’s up over the Astros. Olson is an interesting player, he’s hit 12 dingers but his average is a terrible 195. In fact, looking at the A’s lineup it’s impressive that they have as good of a record as they do because they don’t have a single consistently good base hitter, they’ve got a bunch of decent guys but no one that’s consistently solid - the highest average in their lineup today is Tommy La Stella at 269.

I'll take two, thank you. Who is Bobby Dalbec, and why does he keep hitting home runs for the Red Sox. Seriously, this guy is hitting them like on a juiced Bonds level.

@smurfbate poelzig this guy can hit! Acuna picking a great time to start hitting again. What I would give for at least one more solid starter tho.

Seriously, the Phillies should cut every single reliever on the roster. These assholes are lucky that roster movements are difficult to pull off under this current format.

After tonight's game, ESPN has the Padres with a 100% playoff percentage chance . . . so they are in?
Second best run differential behind only the Dodgers. Only the Dodgers, A's, and Rays have a better winning percentage. They are 5-5 against the Dodgers and A's head to head this year.
Considering the two times the Padres made the World Series it was against what I would consider two of the five greatest teams in my lifetime (1984 Tigers and 1998 Yankees), this may be the Padres best chance ever at a World Series!

Nice to see ESPN not knowing how math works. Baseball reference has them at 99.9%.
