A lot of major retailers have announced they're not having stores open on Thanksgiving and the day after because of Covid-19:

Stop the senseless deaths of innocent shoppers in stampedes. Black Fridays don't matter.

I never go out in the craziness. And aside from maybe some essential places like gas stations and grocery stores, I think stores should be closed on Thanksgiving so employees can spend it with their families.
I'm looking forward to it this year. I took some time off and am taking my daughter and grandkids to my moms for the week.

But it wasn't a life threatening outing then. I haven't been in years. I would go around 10 AM. The sales were in effect but there were hardly any shoppers. Your vacay with grandkids and mom sounds so healthy in these trying times! Make sure to take 'generational' pictures. I love those.

There's a pic me, my daughter, my mom, abd my gram when my daughter was little. I definitely want to get another one! Very special.

I don't see the appeal of getting trampled by hoards of people intent on crushing you to find the last two TVs on the shelf (because you know they always only have a few of those items in stock anyway). If you fall and get smashed, oh well, that's the way it is. Kapoot.
I'd rather pay full price and be able to walk the next day.
Besides, crowds make me very nervous.

The online sales volume will bring the internet to its knees.

Everyone I know is getting alcohol or Amazon gc's from me. Take it or leave it.

Based on TV ads I've seen, a few retailers are already having "Black Friday"-type sales. But I tend to be a "shop when I need something" shopper anyway, so if I'm lucky enough to be present at a store during a sale, so be it.

Our Boxing Day is our crazy shopping day. I got separated from my dad on that day at a mall because of the stampede-like crowds. And having to buy a computer during that week and the salesperson asking me "Is this a Christmas present?" and having to answer "No, my sister poured water onto my old computer."
