Crash (2005) for sure. Also maybe Dances With Wolves to an extent? It's now seen as the movie that stole the Oscar away from the Messianic Goodfellas.

The right and wrong answer is: None. You see, there are movies that got reevaluated and were later considered less good. Average at worst. However, those who can't think without keeping their emotions in control allowed the overhype to create a rejection. They now talk about them like they're downright bad. That extreme mentality is why we can't have nice things.

I don’t see it much anymore but Titanic, for a long time it seems like.

Pretty much a good chunk of Oscar-winners for Best Picture.

I don’t see it much anymore but Titanic, for a long time it seems like. This was a phase between late 2000s thru about 2015. The argument was is was too highly praised so people went the opposite direction. Claiming it was just an epic visually good looking rom-com for 2/3 of a movie. Set on the Titanic. But then people began to reevaluate it again and realized that was just an overcorrection. So now it’s more balanced. Most people accept it as a great film, but not 11 Academy Awards good.

Believe it or not, “Godfather Part III” was nominated for 6 Academy Awards.
Now it’s hated by most people.

"Blair Witch Project", it was an interesting gimmick at the time (though one that had already been done), nowadays I'm hardpressed to find anyone that still really likes it.

Kings Speech Just about any musical in the 21st century Green Book Green Book is such a misunderstood movie now. It's been unfairly characterized as some white savior story about a heroic white character who comes to the rescue of some pathetic black guy. The actual movie is not like that at all, and I feel like most people who accuse of it this haven't seen it.

Chicago is still something I like. Telling the still relevant story that it does, people seeking fame and attention, the media frenzy over a criminal case, and putting it into song. What stinks about it is that it came from Miramax before Disney forced the Weinsteins out.

When people hate a movie because of it's original overpraised reception or because of the Oscars it won over better movies, they aren't even hating the movie itself. The hatred is completely misplaced is what I mean.
I have rarely come across people who claim to hate Dances with Wolves for example, they just hate that it won Best Picture over Goodfellas. The people who hate Crash, Braveheart and Forrest Gump tend to give reasons for why they do and always have hated these movies that is internal to the movies themselves.
I think the people who hate these movies have always hated them and aren't hating them now because of some re-evaluation.

The stunt of the production was a fad for that one summer. Ever since, it's just a fine mainstreamed psychological horror. As for the OP... dunno, maybe stuff like The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, or Out of Africa. There's others that seem to have big hate but also big love like The Sound of Music or Gone With the Wind?
