Here in the UK people are required to wear masks when they’re inside shops but it’s rarely enforced so seeing people with uncovered faces isn’t that much of a deal. So this afternoon I was queuing to pay for my shopping and I noticed that a Muslim woman in front of me had a very nice face. I then realise that the reason why I can see her nice face is because she’s not wearing a mask and I notice at least three other Muslim women in the queue not wearing masks.
This struck me as mildly amusing.
And yes, I do know that most Muslim women are not required to cover their faces when out in public.

What did you buy me Stamm??

So they're required to cover their hair "for religious reasons" but they're exempt from covering their mouth and nose, even if it's "for public health" reasons?

What did you buy me Stamm?? Well as I said it’s rarely enforced so not everyone wears a mask as required. In fact occasionally my absent mindedness kicks in and I can be wandering around for some time before I realise I’m not wearing my mask. Do you like tuna cat food?

Most Muslim women are not required to wear a mask for religious purposes but the image has become stuck in our minds. In fact there are many Muslim women who don’t even cover their hair.

Bi-weekly shopping today. an AWFUL lot of exposed noses (employees and shoppers)
One lady walked into the grocery store without a mask (ignored several MASKS ARE REQUIRED signs ).. glared at some MASKED customers and was totally IGNORED BY STAFF ! She did use sanitizer on her cart though !
The Amish and Mennonite ladies are now wearing masks.... not correctly but... at least now they have them with them and are trying.

The Amish and Mennonite ladies are now wearing masks.... not correctly but... at least now they have them with them and are trying. What's this with wearing masks under the nose? I see it all the time That is such a pet peeve. There are signs in some of the businesses I go to that even show pictures with instructions that read: "covering your NOSE and mouth" because people are wearing them under their nose. I would also think most people have at least seen enough medical docu-dramas to see how masks are worn covering the nose. They see other customers wearing them over their nose. Surely there's enough medical information out there instructing people how to properly wear them. We contract the virus through our nose, so not covering it is just plain stupid and willful ignorance. Or, alternatively, it's people being stubborn because they figure, "yeah sure, see, I'm wearing a mask for ya, but I'll show ya, I won't wear it properly, that'll show ya, har, har." But they figure they've "complied" because they're "technically wearing a mask." Just not correctly.

Do you see the irony here though? 6 months ago the British right was complaining about Muslim women wearing burkas and covering their faces. Now they're complaining that Muslim women are NOT covering their faces. It sounds like Muslim women are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I haven’t seen the British right singling out Muslim women for not wearing masks.

Just pointing out the irony that I apparently missed. I really think I'm gonna have to change my name to "None" and stop posting.
I made a very succinct observation about Islamophobia and all you did was try to use semantics to divert the topic. Why not address the issue?
I'll ask you one more time. Why has the topic in Europe changed from "Muslims are horrible people because the women cover their face", to now "Muslims are horrible people because the women don't cover their face"? And I'm not saying you said Muslims are horrible people.
As an American I'm just very confused about this "covered face" dilemma and why the European view has changed on this.
You mentioned something which, as far as I know, doesn’t happen. Can you point out an example of this happening? If so then I’ll treat it with a sufficient amount of seriousness.

Dude, you just said "And yes, I do know that most Muslim women are not required to cover their faces when out in public." So there has obviously been a change from this: Seriously, you're being purposely obtuse to act like a jackass and I'm really gonna have to change my name to "None" because I'm such a sensitive flower and I can't bear it.
Most Muslim women are not required to cover their faces, some are required to completely cover their faces to the point where they even cover their eyes with a mesh. Many practicing Muslim women don't even cover their hair and wear modern clothing. Nothing has really changed. But what I was hoping to see was an example of Muslim women being criticised for not wearing face masks (which are required by both men and women and not enforced upon one gender under some ultra conservative idea of modesty).

There is an acquaintance of mine that is Muslim. She wears the hijab as a cultural cloth. Covering the face & hands is not mandatory...in their culture, that is.
